memorymoog users please....
Hi there fellow memory gurus. I have a late serial number plus model and it tunes up every time and is very reliable in general. My main question i want to ask is why when the mem is perfectly in tune to c 440 that the tuning differs between patches. For example patch 1 is bang on in tune with c440 but patch 2 is slightly flat, this applies to many other patches as well.
Not a major issue in the studio but would be a headache live!
Any thoughts most welcome
cheers Dan.

Detune doodling
Dan,
The simplest reason could be the Osc pitch or detune settings per patch?
If it's not in your mind when your programming, it's all too easy to get carried away and programme in accidental offsets, particularly in a 3 Osc brute!
I often have to reprogramme A6 patches slightly when I bring them back into a project, as I probably had my "doodling" head on when I made them (which works differently from my playing head for some reason).
Just a thought.

Why this question to be found in the Moog Voyager section?
There is a "Moog Music General Topics" section here too. There it would maybe find more Memory Moog users able to answer the question. I don't think all Memory users got a Moog Voyager too and read this section daily
Sorry, no clue for an answer, except the one by "this_poison".

Classic problem of Memorymoogs. It's caused by oxidizing connector contacts, of which there are over a hundred under the hood. Stock pins and contacts are tin plated which corrode in less than twenty years, shorter in less than ideal environments. I did a complete hotrod of my MM+, replacing selected connector pin headers with goldplated equivalents which hold up a lot better. It's been gigging ten years since I've done that mod. Big job though. Details are in the AH archives.

Thanks for suggestions so far. Heres what ive discovered. There appears to be a problem with the mod/pitch wheel sections. Sometimes the mod wheel works perfectly when assigned to lfo/pitch/filter duties, sometimes not at al,l but if i give the case a little tap its usually starts working. Also the pitch wheel doesn't work properly either, it will bend up or down slightly short of 2 semitones but this is regardless of the number of semitones set in the software.
As for the tuning between patches, the problems is solved if i turn the modulation amount knob to zero and tuning then becomes consistent between patches .
Everything else works perfectly!
Maybe time for a service to get these probs sorted. I love this keyboard more than my entire vintage collection put together-thats how flippin great it is. No other board comes close to the sonic prowess of this beast!
