Re: Post your latest purchase!!
Awesome! I'm always on the lookout for one of those. A local guitar shop I used to work at had a 200. I used to love playing it. He ended up selling it for $250. This was back in 2000 when no one wanted anything analog. I woulda bought it, but I barely made any money working there. Half the time he would pay me with a guitar pedal or a bag of weed.
Re: Post your latest purchase!!
I may not hold onto it for very long. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet other than putting the vacuum on it.

Re: Post your latest purchase!!
as much as I used to hate drum machines with a passion before I got a MOOG -
now I never meet one I don't like! I can suggest a bunch of low-priced options all of which have MIDI
As far as real hardware boxes, I have picked up some Yamaha & Roland for $40 that sound OUT OF THIS WORLD if you process them~ DR Beat 770 is nice. Since nobody cares about any of this old gear you can also find some major gems like my YAMAHA RX-5 which was $200 on craigslist and came with the original Manual and Cartridges for loading your own custom samples etc ~and that is a feature which I still haven't even bothered to use yet! The built-in and factory sounds are excellent! I had to pay a lot more for a Tenori-On which I have put my own samples in~ but it's more like a sequencer than a traditional beat box.
As you can see the RX-5 looks like an old Answering Machine, even down to the color scheme and craplastic grilled box~ but those sliders control tempo and other parameters on the left and serve as a drum mixer on the right:

The real beauty of this unit is that it has 16 OUTs ~ two sounds from the kit are routed to each of 12 outs + there is LEFT/RIGHT Mono etc ~ so you can put each piece of through a different processor.

The Dr. Beat is also pretty sweet ~ here it is on top of my Hammond~ which is rigged with a direct out box so I can MOOGIFY it

There's a great little iPAD app called FUNK BOX by the guys who make Little MIDI Machine ~ the sequencer I posted about... I think it's free as well. FUNK BOX has emulations of some of the most famous drum machines in history.Kenneth wrote:Nice! Hey, if you're into drum machines, maybe you could direct me. I'm looking for a programmable drum machine that is very "lo-fi" in tone/texture. Like, not anything that sounds like real drums or traditional drum machines. Any ideas? I'd like to keep price low too. Monotribe would be the obvious answer, but NO MIDI??? WTF!!!thealien666 wrote:I just bought this used for not a lot of money... to add to my aging DR-110.

Same old same old, not thrilled by new anymore....
So I just got (couple of months ago) a Moog 12 Stage Phaser Model MKPH (not visible, it's below the LinnDrum) and this very nice set of original controllers (with service manual).

Did you get that from ebay? I drooled all over that auction.

Did you bid on it?EricK wrote:Did you get that from ebay? I drooled all over that auction.
I think it was posted on E-Bay. Anyway (i am sorry to say) you did not stand a chance. The seller is a friend of mine who was in need of money at the time. Phone rang, picked up the whole set the next day. Got a nice micro-moog from him too (separate deal). The micro was not in my plans, but based on your own videos, and because it was right there in front of me, I snatched it too. I don't regret it one bit.

Re: Post your latest purchase!!
I drooled but didn't bid. You are right, I never stood a chance anyway because it was expensive as hell.
I am getting the Mirco restored in a few months, I will post some videos of the before and after result. It's not a bad little synth, it works nicely with those accessories.
Your friend has a lot of auctions that were really nice, if we were talking about the same auction. He has that rack full of stuff, even a vocoder right?
That percussion controller looks in good shape also. I wonder if there is a way that you can paint a clear coat over it to keep the paint from flaking off. I think that Ludwig paint had issues with that over time.
I don't know if there will ever be that full set for sale again unless you sell yours. Great score.
Eric

Portamental, that is one GIANT pile of vintage gear, I'm even jealous of the expression pedal!
'76 Minimoog, Taurus 3, Oberheim FVS + Son of 2-voice; Sequential ProOne; Juno 106; Moog Model 15; Kurzweil 250; Hammond M3; and a handful of Fender Basses Flickr!

He does, and other things you would not believe (but I don't want to say too much until next boatload of money reaches port), like thisEricK wrote:He has that rack full of stuff, even a vocoder right?

Should come in handy when I finally get to it. The kit is brand NOS and contains 4 of these super rare MM5823 I have been trying to get hold of for a while now. Only problem is that darn foam (you know the one I mean) it starting to attack some of the aluminum can transistors by reacting with the varnish or epoxy on the bottom. I just summarily inspected it and at least one has been spoiled. IC's are ok. Gotta repackage it ASAP. I don't mind using the parts, but I want to keep them as reference whenever possible.
Congrats on the Wurlitzer, it looks real nice.
I spotted an L-100 for a couple of hundreds just last week, but the thing was downright dirty and I am afraid of refurbishing costs. I'll wait for the next one.
Re: clear coat... That should work to some extent, but both my 1130's, this black one and the other one (white) have been repainted with automotive paint that will last decades and they look brand new. I can only suggest you do the same.

Thanks, I hear ya... this one is extra mint. Rubber looks new, no all worn up like the usual, phillips screws are shiny, not a trace of mildew or oxydation.EMwhite wrote: ...the expression pedal!

Maybe I should put it in a box and dream of what it will be worth in ten years. loll Not a chance!, i want to put my weight on it
