Re: Balanced or unbalanced outputs
Another thing... is it okay to use a balanced cable within a line of unbalanced cables and the Voyager set to unbalanced, will it just ignore the extra part of balanced cables?
Re: Balanced or unbalanced outputs
Ah well I was stupidly reading Apogee Duet 2's specs as I couldn't find the first Duet on the Apogee site, turns out the instrument inputs of the Duet 1 are unbalanced, so I have no choice but to run it unbalanced. Thanks anyway guys

yeah that should be fine for the interim.msjlra wrote:Another thing... is it okay to use a balanced cable within a line of unbalanced cables and the Voyager set to unbalanced, will it just ignore the extra part of balanced cables?
btw, if you want a great sounding little interface to replace your old duet the TC Impact Twin would be a nice step up for not much money.

Re: Balanced or unbalanced outputs
I would imagine each location and individual A/C power setup has an impact too. For what it's worth, in my recording studio ~ the Voyagers sound very clean either way using one or two (mono or stereo outs) balanced or unbalanced (going into RME FireFace) ~ however a balanced cable make a VERY big difference with the Slim Phatty ~ another piece of the puzzle, I added a Furmann power bar 'conditioner' recently which has also made some difference as well. Especially with the noisier foogers ~ the deNoiser plug-in can be another big help.
