Hi all, hope this is the right forum. I'm about to start an API lunchbox with one Moog Ladder and one API 550a eq. I have a mixer with balanced IO, the Xtramix. The instruments are all newer analog mono synths and drum machines, the Voyager being one of them.
I do not, however, want to buy a mic pre with a DI unless I really need to. Ideally I would use a TRS-XLR cable from the synth outputs into the Ladder via the Lunchbox. And then out of the Ladder and into the 550a, then into the mixer line in. Would that work? Alternatively, my mixer has balanced effects sends, could that work?
Can the Ladder input accept unbalanced synths?
Re: Can the Ladder input accept unbalanced synths?
Don't know about the other stuff, but if you're talking about mixer inserts, it does NOT have balanced FX sends. It has unbalanced Tip=Out, Ring=Return, Sleeve=Ground, which is by nature unbalanced. If you're talking about separate balanced TRS sends, then yes it will work.
