Newb Needs Midi Tutorial/Info

Post by Jose Aldo Nova » Fri Nov 23, 2012 11:12 pm

Greetings Everyone

Did a search, didn't find a topic on the subject. And I'm not surprised since it's pretty basic :)

Long story short - I'm probably the dumbest person on this boards in terms of MIDI; I know nothing about it, and want to learn. Recently got the 100 preset downloads from Moog for the Little Phatty , followed the instructions about installing SysEx Librarian, tried to configure my Mac, attempted to delve into the MIDI folders of the LP, read though some various literature on MIDI and still understand nothing. I can't even get my computer to acknowledge that I need to download new drivers for this.

If anyone knows of ANY good beginner tutorials or literature for MIDI on a mac with the LP, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Though it shouldn't and it usually doesn't, using the USB port directly can sometimes cause issues.

Using the DIN midi ports on the phatty and a midi-usb interface, like the m-audio uno, can solve many problems. Divers and device recognition go smoother.

Hey, Sir Nose - thanks for the reply!
I actually did get the exact connection you speak of, with DINS for the LP and the USB for the Mac. I'm going to play around more with it today.

Thats funny, as I've always had issues with the DIN connectors on my phatty.. I use the USB pretty exclusively...
