MIDI mapping in Logic 7 for the Voyager

Post by Eddington » Mon Aug 15, 2005 8:59 pm

i use logic 7 pro and mapped out all the midi CC's for the voyager using the hyper editor in logic for automation of the voyager knobs. the problem i ran into is:
-logic already has set events for some of the midi CC's that correspond to the voyager. e.g. control #10 is mapped out to the pan knob in logic and on the voyager it corresponds to the osc. 2 freq. knob.
- i have searched within logic to try and re-assign the pan knob but to no avail.
- is it possible to re-assign the osc. 2 freq. knob in the voyager to a different CC #?
- also, what do MSB and LSB stand for in the list of midi CC's in the voyager manual?

I have no clue on how to use Logic. But I can tell you, you can't change the controller numbers on the Voyager. But I am sure you are able to "disconnect" Logic from the received and played CCs somehow.

"MSB" and "LSB" stand for "most significant byte" and "least significant byte".
The Voyager and other fine instruments use more then the sibgle byte Midi controllers range of a max of 128 (2 by the power of 7) possible different values. So the Voyager combine two different CCs to get not the 7 bit but 14 bit resolution. This means 16384 (2 by the power of 14) different values per parameter. This is way smoother and result in a more analogue like behavier. On the new OS 3 you will be able to use single CCs for easier interfacing. And to reduce Midi traffic.
keep on turning these Moog knobs
