Minitaur External Filter Issues With Ableton

Post by snivitz » Mon Aug 13, 2012 6:24 am

Hows it going guys, iv'e got a bit of a problem, i cant seem to get the Minitaur to work as an external effects processor.

Iv'e got

"audio out" of the Minitaur running to "input 4" on my Saffire pro
"output 6" of the Saffire pro running to "audio in" on the Minitaur

I opened a new project in ableton, dropped a guitar sample on a channel, added an "external effect" and routed it as above with "Audio To" going to 6 and "Audio From" set to 4, the dry/wet just fades the sample out when fully wet but with no filter or modulation applied.

Am i missing something?

EDIT: I followed the videos to the letter and cant seem to get this to work, iv'e been at this two days now :(

Is anyone using a Focusrite Saffire interface with the Minitaur, i think it must be the "mix control" software routing because this should be simple enough.

Can anyone help me out please?

you are missing something, you also need to send MIDI notes to the MInitaur to open up its VCA and pass sound. you can send one long note to keep the sound going, or multiple shorter notes for a gated effect.
