Scratchy Pots

Post by RoboticEFX » Fri Jul 06, 2012 5:36 pm

I just received my Minitaur, and I noticed that the pots aren't smooth when turning them. Some of them are very smooth, such as VCO2 frequency, Cutoff frequency, etc. Others have a slight scratchy resistance, such as the ADSR pots. My LFO rate pot has a very light "click" feel towards the center of full range, and then has light scratchy resistance from the center to about 3/4 full range. I'm not sure if this is a normal thing for MOOG instruments, so I wanted to get some advice on the forums. It's brand new, so I don't know if they just need broken in...or what. I have some older synths and a new Tetra that have knobs that are smooth as silk. It could be that I'm just a little OCD or neurotic...

No, I think they are all supposed to be very smooth without resistance or scratching.

A few of mine are a little scratchy too. Most notably the glide knob. The more I use them, the more they smooth up and get less scratchy, but the problem is still there.
