what exactly isn't working?

Are you powering up with the appropriate button-press combo?
- Power up the Minitaur while holding down the VCO 1 and 2 Waveform switches,
- Keep them pressed down and press the Release switch.
- Now you can release the VCO1 and 2 waveform switches. The Glide switch should be blinking slowly.
Are you sending the "erase firmware" command next?

After you do these steps successfully, you should be able to send the new firmware.

If you're doing all the right steps and it still isn't working, post back with a description of what's happening on your end.

Amos,
Your description is pretty clear, but maybe a quick video would do the trick.

I've done this many times. It's a suitable 3 finger salute similar to rebooting a PC but the tough part is keeping all three button depressed WHILE powering on.

If you are dexterous (I think that's a word) to have all three buttons pushed with one hand, a power strip on your other hand is easily done. Otherwise, some help from another person is helpful. FORGET about trying to negotiate this and plugging in the adapter chord; that's a 10 in difficulty : )

The rest of it is easy. Just be sure that you are 'sending' to the correct channel.

I tried to make it a bit easier than all that (well, just a bit) -- you need only depress the two VCO buttons before/whilst plugging in the power... you can press the Release switch after the power's on, so long as the other two buttons are pressed/held to begin with. This should leave a hand free for the power. :)

EMwhite had a beta version where you really did have to press all three buttons before plugging in - that's definitely more difficult...

SysEx is not traveling through one of the 16 logic MIDI channels. Its a kind of Omni-mode like message. Maybe you meant to write "correct MIDI output".

Whoops! And yes. I meant channel as in "device". My Motu Timepiece has 8 different channels to it (not to be confused with Midi channels) and I'm forever sending SysEx to the wrong device! Then I panic.

But Amos and Till both right obviously. I've given dated information. Apologies.

Idiot #2 here.

I believe I'm following the instructions, but I'm not able to get the lights to flash as described.
- Power up the Minitaur while holding down the VCO 1 and 2 Waveform switches,
- Keep them pressed down and press the Release switch.
- Now you can release the VCO1 and 2 waveform switches. The Glide switch should be blinking slowly.
I have to be doing this wrong. What's confusing me is that there's no power switch, so am I actually powering up the unit with this button combination? Should I unplug the unit then proceed or should this work with the unit plugged in and thus already powered up?

Thanks

There is no powering up by these buttons.
This is why it reads "Power up while pressing ..." and not "Power up by pressing ..."

To power up, you have to insert the power plug of the external PSU already seated in a mains outlet.
And while inserting the little plug in the back, you have to press down the VCO 1 and 2 Waveform switches.
etc. ...

Thank you for the clarification Till.

I'm used to "powering up" meaning turning something on with a power switch, not plugging it in. Saying "plug the power adapter in while holding..." would probably have helped me, but I guess no one else had a problem with the language.

I'll try tonight. I'm sure it works just fine.

On a side note, are you all unplugging the Minitaur when not using it? I'm having some wierd issues, none of which are menioned in the firmware fixes. I wonder if it's because I'm unplugging it when it's not in use or my Minitaur is defective.

I am unplugging the Minitaur all the time it is not in use. And I am afraid, it is more unplugged then plugged to the power due t the main job and the forum here

Cool. I'll continue to unplug mine.

I'm curious why they didn't put a power switch on it.
