What is that noise?

Turn OSC 1 & 2 levels all the way down and set the volume anywhere between 5 and 10. Now open the gate (hold down any key). Do you hear any digital noise or artifacts?

contact moog with a report of the problem, im sure theyll be able to help.

Apparently the issue is being addressed in the design of the LP Stage Edition. Digital noise from the scanning of the keyboard is getting into the filter. It’s quite noticeable at high overload and/or volume levels. Depending upon your taste it may or may not be a problem.

I haven’t noticed the digital noise in the first days but now it gets more and more disturbing.
Is there a hardware fix available or is it a design flaw ? Does the loudness vary on different models?

For the price tag of the Phatty, I think it’s not acceptable.

The hardware fix would be to stick the guts of the Stage Edition inside the Tribute.

the background noise level on the Tribute can be reduced by some tweaks to the firmware… this is an important goal for the upcoming OS v1.03 release (probably available by NAMM next month). It’s not exclusively a hardware problem, but is influenced by the way the hardware and software work together. Summary: the noise is not cool but have patience, there is a good chance it will be improved soon.
