What a cool sound! Not Moog I’m sure but still always a treat to hear.
OK, the coolest logo of all. I forgot about this one.
Thats Gershon Kingsley and its a Moog. Brings back many memories.
Yup, they don’t make tv like that anymore. It’s a shame really.
Man, both of those (WGBH & PBS) bring back memories! I grew up outside of Boston and my family watched WGBH Channel 2 all the time! Listening now I can recognize that they are done with synthesizers, but when I was a kid I just enjoyed the sounds…
Mini Moog or modular I wonder?
Did Gershon Kingsley do both the WGBH & PBS spots?
I’m working at GBH in Brighton right now. Killing time while rendering video… came across this.
AWESOME!! Thanks so much. Forgot about these. Really should have worked PBS 35 years ago… no more microtonal synth jams and frightening logo splashes. What a shame.
Thanks again for the links!
Ethan
That logo is “burned screen” in my brain. It’s amazing what you remember from your earliest days.
Great stuff ,remember this from PBS or NET NY in the seventies.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiiWzVkdosU&feature=PlayList&p=EADA0C38D7B448A5&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=30
The independent station here in New Orleans (WGNO, now an ABC affiliate) used to use Todd Rundgren’s “Breathless” sequence for breaks…
Its sort of interesting, between this and the old Duracell commercial, its amazing how Moog was ingrained in our memories and in some instances, we didn’t have any idea at the time of our later connection to them.
Maybe that is what lead us to Moog? Hum…Moog propaganda?
I have to agree with this. I grew up listening to Moog sounds, and it was my dream starting in high school to one day own a Moog. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford one until a few years ago, but better late than never. ![]()
