Voyager release problem

When I have my Voyager RME V3.4 connected to one of my sequencers (Sequentix P3 and AKai MPC60) the release parameter gets switched off everytime I hit stop.
I can press play and then either adjust the release knobs or change “release function” in the panel menu and things will be back to normal until I next stop the sequencer.
Is anyone else having similar issues ?
I emailed Moog tech support last week and still haven’t received a reply.

Hi,
this problem has nothing to do with the RME. When your sequencer sends a release off message after stop then the RME switches off the release.

Hi Rudi,
I have looked at the MIDI 1.0 Specification and there is no “release off” message.
My sequencer sends an “all notes off” message when I hit stop. Is that what you mean by “release off” ?

According to the MIDI spec “all notes off” is intended to kill any hanging notes caused by missed note off messages. It should not change envelope(or any other) parameters.

All this has got me thinking, what is the intended use of the Release on/off switch on the Voyager ?
Is turning the switch off any different from setting the release knob to 0 ?

Hi Acid Mitch,
“all notes off” doesn’t affect the release. Maybe your sequencer sends one of the controller numbers ( #64, #66 or #88 ) which can affect the release.

Rudi

Thanks for your help Rudi.
After further testing I have found that while my P3 only sends “All Notes Off” when I hit stop, the MPC60 also sends a “sustain pedal off” message (cc64,value 0).
I can’t seem to find a way to get the MPC60 to not send cc64 when I hit stop.
Is it possible to make the Voyager ignore this message ?

The OS 3.5 will get different MIDI controller on/off functions - then it’s possible to switch off foot controllers, switches or pots.

w00t!!!
That’s great news.
I thought I was going to have to ditch the MPC but it looks like it can stay.
Are there any other additional features planned for OS 3.5 ?

Sure

  Good. Just checking.

So , did these features ever get added ?
I can’t find them in os 3.5.

Hi Acid Mitch,
not yet, sorry.
Have fun,
Rudi
