Has anybody heard of the slightest possibility of the Voyager Old School being brought back into production?
Hi,
I think, there are some new ones out there, several Dealers seem to have them in stock again.

Interesting, at Big City Music they claim, “Because of popular demand a limited number were made by Moog Music” . Looks like they have them there and at a good price at Analoguehaven. Good to know new ones are available again.

I saw that. There is a member here who got the certificate printed that says they got the last ever Old School manufactured. Had it’s pic with the staff and everything. Whomever is keeping up production information needs to know that is not the actual last one made.
Well. I’m old enough to remember when they stopped making Minimoogs back in 1975. They started making them again a few years latter. Never thought I would ever see a new Minimoog model D made, but I guess there was a quite demand for them, so they began to produce them again. The VOS is following those same steps.
If so, they aren’t legitimated to make out a certificate which tells, that there only 500 have been made.
There are 600+ serialnumbers shown in a special thread here - so, as I mentioned a few months ago, we were fooled by the Moog-People, especially M. A. who signed the certificate of authenticity..
This is interesting, too: http://www.vintagesynthshop.com/Moog-Voyager-Old-School-OS-bbdaaabCa.asp

BTW: In 1975, the Minimoog was one of the few synthesizers which were available - so there was a real demand. Today, something like the VOS is something very special.
They should make a voyager old school XL model D electric black slim rack mount outback edition in a commemorative anniversary concertmate release with all analog midi and digital CV’s.
I don’t think Moog is doing anything deliberate. For whatever reason they stopped production they didn’t forsee themselves building more. Would you rather see them discontinue things permanently or fufill orders for their customers to keep making money and continue making profits that ultimately go towards new products?
I am lucky enough to have an OS and I will admit that at the time I was somewhat lured into buying one sooner than later because they were discontinued. To have one of 500 or 600 does make it feel like a special thing however I think that if there is demand and they can make them, why not go for it? I think it’s really cool that such a small personable company can be so flexible with their production. A world with more Moog synths can only be a good thing.
Thanks for the links. They’re very tantalizing.
There’s another thread here somewhere with a picture of the certificate that says something like “congratulation, you bought #500 of 500 Old School Voyagers” and a least a few folks feel duped that there are serial #'s above 500 floating around.
I ran out and bought mine when I heard the supply was drying up. I didn’t have the money at the time (still don’t) but do not regret buying it. I’ve seen at least 3 people willing to do straight up trades from Voyager to Old School. The things a classic and despite have a fair amount of midi equipment in my setup, I don’t miss the fact that it doesn’t have Midi or presets.
From a component perspective, there likely is not too much different between the Voyager and OldSchool, maybe the sheet metal of the main panel and a few ancillary boards which are inside (same kbd, LHC, analog board, power supply or subset of, cabinet/frame).
But I think they’ll find that after the 25 or 50 people get theirs, the demand will taper off. It must cost something to retool a few stations and pull folks off of what they are making today. And the cost of the unit must leave a slim profit margin as well; I got mine for $2,200 no tax, no shipping from Nova. It was open box which meant that they opened it simply to take a few pictures for their web page. They are 100% trustworthy over there.
If you want one, find one and buy it, who knows what the future holds. I haven’t heard anything about new products spinning up anytime soon but I would think that between Slim Phatty’s, Voyagers, and Foogers, they are still pretty busy.
I think the natural progression is an XL Select or at least a nice cabinet for the last few that come off, but frankly, havinf an xl with the backlit color/ cabinet option would be ideal.
If i ordered one I would have had to at least get one with lit up wheels, because theres no really good reason why it has to have the non illuminated set of wheels. I thought the lit wheels was essentially a standard feature these days.
Now an XL old school…that might be the tipping point that makes me do a factory reset on my Select and sell it and some other things to get one.
New Old Schools are slated to ship later this year according to those links.

This is what they say at vintagesynthshop:
“The Moog VOYAGER OLD SCHOOL is no longer manufactured, less than 700 were produced and the success is here, only a few pieces are available worldwide. Vintagesynthshop is honored to offer for sale the last few copies”
The guy at ebay always had listed two VOS auctions parallel, the last one he sold was early December 2010…
Since a few weeks, only one auction is active and has been relisted several times without a trade. So it seems, that there isn’t a real demand anymore. So, Analog Organist, go out and get one, NOW ![]()
