I received my Voyager OS (#0243) a couple of weeks ago…incredible instrument. For all you folks who use a VX-351 with your Voyagers…what are some of your favorite ways to connect the two? And are there any Moogerfoogers you feel are ‘essential’?
I love to use the touchpad to control the delay feedback. It makes me feel like IM really doing something when I phrase my leads by reaching up and touching the delay.
I also think that its fun to use the touchpad gate to the S&H trigger input on the cp251 and then out to the Freqbox cause if you rapidly tap on the touchpad you get that sample and hold sound.
I don’t really use mine that much at this time because I don’t have a lot of time to really hook some things up (and Im lacking patchcords)
You can also do some great things by using the mod wheel going into any one of the Foogers Mix amounts.
“Essential” Moogerfoogers include Freq Box, Low Pass Filter, Ring Modulator, and CP-251. Of course, I get along fine with my Ring Mod, Phaser, and CP-251, but that’s all I have room for right now. The phaser is surprisingly useful, but not an absolute must-have. Congrats on your purchase!
ONLY if you can afford it…then get the Bob Moog signature one…IF they haven’t sold all 17 yet. Then you’d only be paying $29 for the delay, as Bob’s signature is worth $700 by itself.
I think any Fooger becomes essential…once you buy it.
My original plan was to get a 921B oscillator module from Modusonics. THat was going to run me about 800 dollars. THen these people were like “Hey Eric, Im going to spring up an old forgotten bill on you so you can’t get your oscillator”
So Instead I bought the Freqbox and the Cp251. I opened the Freq and looked at it and really I thought “Man I can’t believe I dropped this kind of cash on this.” But you know what? It has since become essential.
WHether it is accompanying my theremin, or as a second Osc to my Micro or a 4th to my Voyager; whether Im using it to fade in some S&H in some crazy 70’s style modularesque soundpainting, or to fatten up my bass guitar…I have used the crap out of it. I have used the Envelope follower in it to trigger stuff. Its totally essential and it has this old school Analogue drift that is so cool and yet manageable. Steve Dunnington really outdid himself with that one!
I felt the same way when I bought my delay…“I can’t believe that I paid almost 700 dollars for this” But it has since become essential. I use the crap out of it.
You know the more stuff that you buy the more you really understand how important it is to have every fooger. All roads essentially lead towards modular synths.
