On the Voyagers front panel, some of the markings around the attack/decay/release knobs are not numbered.
What times do they represent on a proerly calibrated Voyager ?
If this has been covered before please link me to the post.I tried searching the forum but couldn’t find any info on this.
If I’m not mistaken the “10” which is just north of the 9 o’clock position represent 10ms. The “1” on the other side of the dial is near 1 second. I say near because on my VOS, it’s a bit longer but there abouts.
Whats the point of having reference points that dont refer to anything ?
I cant see how it’s possible for them not to refer to specific times.
I know the scaling is not linear. I wouldn’t have asked if it was.
Drop the acid and open your mind. They are just there so you can write down and dial a setting back in again. They reference a knob position. Not a time/rate.
I can just hear people whine now. The line is labeled 300ms and it is really 320ms! What is wrong with my synth!? Whaaaaaa!
Look at them like this. The first one is ‘very little’ the next one is ‘some more’ and the next one is ‘still some more’ until you get to ‘all there is’.
For me (a poor Old School owner), I use the lines to record relative settings for any particular patch (especially when transposing the Welsh’s book) and use the “Patch Memorizer” web GUI that was published some time ago.
I don’t care what the labels are. I just use the scale to redial sounds I wrote down. Many synths give no clue about timings at all. They just go from 0-10. Others have timings that are wrong. Who cares. The mixer section is not labeled in db. And nobody asked for this yet.
