Vocalist Live 4 vocoder for pitch correction on Theremin

Digitech Vocalist Live 4 vocoder for pitch correction. Has anyone ever tried this? Can one really accomplish no sour notes on a Moog Theremin Standard by putting this unit ( or others like it ) inline from the output to an amplifier?

Idk if that would work man, you would have to do each piece that is in a different pitch seperately… It might work but it will definitely be hard to do.. let me know how it turns out if you decide to try it.

I use the Antares ATR-1. I put it in the chromatic mode and forget about bad notes. It’s not 100% transparent, but I’ve never had anyone complain.

Thanks Don, I will put an Antares ATR-1 on Chanukah Harry’s Holiday shopping list.

I was thinking that all the Theremin buffs were feeling lonely since the last post was on 12/16, so I wrote this post to give you all a bit of placebo hope.

Just rigged up my digitech Vocalist-4 Live. The Pitch corrector on it works just fine. also it gives you a lot of choices on how mild or extreme you want the pitch correction to be. Also choices of major, minor, harmonic minor, chromatic, etc. A bit pricey at around $400 but well worth avoiding embarracing moments when an audience hears you go off key at a live performance. It is very much like learning to ride a bike first with training wheels. Just make sure you plug your Theremin into the “Line In” on the back right next to the “Mic-In” and NOT into the “Guitar-In” jack on the back.

How is the sound of the Digitech Vocalist Live 4? Is there any digital ringing? How are the harmony features. I would like to try and get some lap steel sounding effects with a theremin.

Sounds great to me. If you set the correction too high at around 87-99% it will sound a bit to a lot like a digital robot. Stay under 87%. Same goes for the Harmony blend. don’t set it too close to 99% or it will sound phoney.
