Version 3 Hardware Upgrade Required for O.S. 3.4?

If you have an older Voyager (OS revision 2.5 or lower, built before August, 2005), a hardware upgrade is necessary to take advantage of the new operating system features. This hardware upgrade will also increase the single bank of 128 presets to seven banks of 128 for a total of 896. This upgrade is available as a field upgrade or factory upgrade. Click here for more information.

I have an AE with the aftertouch, but not the memory (Version 3) upgrade. What features of 3.4 will I not be able to use, apart from the obvious lack of multiple memory banks?

Thanks
Andy

You need no hardware update for the 3.4 version. The software runs on all hardware versions.
Have fun,
Rudi

Hi Andy,

but off cause you won’t get the additional 6 memory banks of the newer hardware just by using the new software.

And by the way: all Voyager got aftertouch. But the pre August 2005 models got a rather strange response curve. That is why the changed it. And Moog sells an aftertouch fix to get a better scaling. But still not perfect.

Rudi, Till, thanks for your replies.

I thought that was what the announcement was saying; the wording was just a little ambiguous.

I should have been a little clearer myself; I have the aftertouch upgrade already. It is still a little weird, e.g. with any pressure shaping to destination: pitch, you will get annoying pitch bends when you don’t want them. I’ll have to try out Till’s pot mapping trick.

And the touch surface S&H sounds like an awesome idea!

Thanks for your continued developments Moog/Rudi.
