Utopia Me Giorgio by AL. on Minimoog D

Hi everyone,

This is my humble attempt at recreating another song called “Utopia Me Giorgio” by G. Moroder using the Minimoog D triggered by my analog drum machine DR-110, and chords played on my Alesis ion.

Every note has been played by hand, only triggered by drum machine. The Phaser/Delay sound effect has been done using an analog delay (Deluxe Memory Man) tweaked in real-time by hand (delay time and feedback),
The reverb is EHX Cathedral and is the only external digital effect used beside the 12 stage phaser effect on the chords inside the Alesis ion.

I was very lucky that the drum machine tempo stayed in sync on multiple tracks.

Still a work in progress…

P.S. I should really get an analog sequencer, it would be a WHOLE lot less work…

Very nice. I can’t say I’m a big Moroder fan but I like your Minimoog sounds (and vids).

Thanks guys. Yeah, I know Italo-Disco type music from the seventies isn’t everyone’s bag. But since Mr. Moroder is greatly responsible for my love of analog synths, and since back then I would have wanted so much to be able to play with one (I was only 12 when this was composed), today I can pay a little tribute to him. Besides, it’s also a lot of fun (work) to do…

I kind of like it, personally. Very mellow to my ears, in an Animusic kind of way. I particularly liked how all the gear was incorporated to create the song. Very cool! :smiley:
