UPDATE: SOLVED the keyboard is fixed!

Hi,

Really happy first time Moog owner of the sub 37
I just got it 3 days ago and it’s a total black hole, I’ve spent so many hours on it already.

Anyway I checked my 37 thoroughly after receiving it, but only today I’ve discovered
a small issue with the F key (in the middle) of my keyboard. It’s not as responsive as
the other keys and I need to press it much harder/faster to get a sound. It seems like
the velocity setting of this one key is different from the other keys.

Can I run a diagnostic or maybe calibrate the velocity of the keys?
Anyone else experiencing this issue?

UPDATE:
I’ve uploaded a video to my dropbox, showing the issue, the F and G key both are not in order it turns out.
You can see mee playing a simple note sequence (Middle C to B) and that F and G are not playing.
Can this be fixed with a firmware reset/calibration procedure or do I need to return it for a fix at Moog?
(I’d rather not part with this lovely piece of gear..)

If you mean the F to the left of Middle C mine ended up staying pressed down and I have a piece of foam under it to be able to use and it will not fully come up to it’s normal height. I am not willing to pay to ship it to Moog and wait for weeks and have it shipping across the country twice, so I will just have to pay $75 to have it done. I have had many keyboards and have never had that happen, I take care of my instruments. I thought it was a fluke until I saw your post. If it happens to another key I don’t think I will buy another Moog.

Hi MacAquinas, that sounds like a more serious issue than I have. In my case the keys all function normally, meaning they move up and down in normal fashion. However the electronic response is different for the F key (above Middle C), I have to push/hit it harder than other keys to make sound.

Update:
I’ve been contacted by moog via email.
I’m confident they will help fix the issue so I won’t be updating this thread for now.
Hopefully there’s an easy fix..

Sorry for reactivating this old thread.
I recently bought a SUB37 (and registered) and I have the same issue with the middle F-key.
Is there an easy fix for this or do I have to return it to the shop (TSF, Ghent, Belgium).
If they have to send it to the US again (and back) it will take forever… :open_mouth:

Please advise !

Thank You

Paul(ogic)

Hi,

Mine is still not fixed, but this is due to my own negligence and the synthshop is also not very helpfull.
So, email moog and ask what can be done.
Oh and add your issue and serial to the list of sub37 users, if you haven’t done so already,.

I send a mail to Moog Support and they already sent me a way to have this issue solved.
I can send it to a local company taking care of Moog Repairs (import ?). Already got a RMA… heheh.
Nice product, nice support ! What do you want more..

I got my Sub37 back last saterday and the problem has been solved.
The repairnote mentioned that they replaced the entire keybed.
Thanks guy’s, nice job.

It feels much better now, can it be a different type of keybed they installed? I’m very pleased with this one. Amazing respons.
I played almost all day long (Sunday) on the Sub and did not want to stop… but the chief said I had to (Chief = wife :unamused: )

Hi,

today I turned my Sub37 in for repair, the awesome guys at Amtec ordered the keyboard for me in advance, so it’s repaired a bit quicker.
Really excited about your new keyboard ‘feel’, hope mine will be likewise smooth.

My sub37 arrived with a silky smooth new keyboard!
It plays wonderfully!

Cheers to Amptec for quick and good service!

Cool !

Does it also seem different to you?

ps : I really need an extra job  I so enjoy my Sub37 that I need to add some Mothers for this baby.

Yeah it feels mich better, somehow..
Overall response is less stiff.

Really happy with it!
