Two questions: the threads on them in the search are "meh."

I’m interested in an RME.

  1. What’s with the street price vs. Moog store price? ~$500US cheaper when buying from an outside retailer. Is that correct? I’m worried that something might be inferior with these other retailers. Any difference in warrenty? I’d rather give Moog my money directly, but ouch.

  2. Alleged tuning issues with the RME Voyagers. Real or imagined by people who don’t understand analog gear? I’ve had a Eurorack system for a couple years now and I understand temperature and tuning, but just about all the analog VCO’s I have are pitch stable after a few minutes. I can only assume that the RME is similar and once warmed up will be “stable enough.” Are new users just uninformed/confused?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

When you buy factory direct, you pay MSRP. Manufacturers are able to sell large quantities of product X to dealers for less than Retail, and the dealers pass the savings on to the consumer. Also, if a product sits on a shelf for a while, dealers will lower the cost just to get rid of the extra inventory overhead so they can stock stuff that DOES sell. It’s not unheard of for Voyagers to sit in a store for 3-5 years.

I haven’t heard of RME tuning issues in quite some time, at least not since the last software update.

Yeah, what Voltor07 said…

And I would add: from my personal experience with both a Voyager Old School and a Voyager Electric Blue Edition, as far as tuning stability is concerned, they were both very stable after a few minutes. I don’t know about an RME but, since the analog hardware is identical to a regular Voyager, I don’t see why it should behave differently ?

TIFWIW.
