two different types of MF-102

Hello,

I have a doubt, i want to buy a MF-102 and i live in barcelona. I´ve found one of the in a store in Barcelona, here´s de link:

http://www.microfusatienda.com/es/moog-mf-102-moogerfooger-ring-modulator.html

As you can see there is a difference if you compare it with this one:

http://www.moogmusic.com/products/moogerfoogers/mf-102-ring-modulator

The difference is in the words in the down-right part. At the first one you can read “Bol moog”, and the other picture you can read “MOOG”. And my question is: Are they the same moogerfooger instead of this difference?

I really please if someone could help me about this.

Sorry about my english, and i hope you understand my question.

Regards,

Actually, that’s ‘Bob Moog’, and that is his signature. Early models of the MF-102 had his signature silkscreened on the plate. Later models replaced the signature with the Moog logo.

No difference in the electronics inside the device - they both sound the same.

Go for it!

Welcome to the group.

For what it’s worth, and a bit of history :

The original ‘Bob Moog’ moogerfoogers were made by Big Briar Inc. (Bob’s own company from what I have read). The company’s name was changed to Moog Music Inc, when Bob regained the rights of his own name. Same address, same phone number.

Same products too, but products do evolve. The MF-101 on the left is a Big Briar with the original design. The one in the middle is the newer generation, redesigned in 2008, with a different PCB using surface mount technology. I don’t know if the MF-102 was redesigned too, I only have the Big Briar one.

If you attach some sentimental value to the Bob Moog signature and don’t mind a ten years old unit (the knobs on my BB MF-102 have become pretty loose from usage), go with it.

If you prefer a brand new machine, with wood sides that will be a better match to more foogers down the road, then buy a new one.

It’s up to you.
