Tuning Issues

I have to retune my LP everytime I play it. Is this normal? Is there an easy fix for this? I’ve read the manual but I just don’t quite get what I’m missing. I’m always manually retuning it to my other synths. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Same thing happend with me. I just re calibrated everything. Also, when you turn it on, let it just sit there and warm up for about a half hour. If you touch any keys it will tune that. Resist the urge to play when you just turn it on. That’s my experience anyways.

Does the temperature in the room where you keep the Phatty fluctuate? Also, do you let the Phatty warm up for a few mintues before playing?

Is it possible your other synths are out of tune? If not, are you using the LP’s Autotune feature, or are you tuning it yourself? Autotune helps 110%, especially with OS 2.1. Are you running 2.1?

I’m not sure I really understand how the Auto Tune function works. If I have it turned on it doesn’t seem to automatically tune to A440. I seem to be able to get it to tune across a few steps, but it doesn’t do it consistently day to day. In the studio, I’ll often just turn off Auto Tune and just tune to my strobe tuner.

Interesting.

And sometimes frustrating. I was recording some music on Saturday and I was hearing the pitch move on long sustained tones. This was with a sound that only used one oscillator and no modulation. The LP had been on for a good 10 hours (long recording session!), so the temp should have been totally stable. Odd.

Mine stays in tune with Autotune. Of course, your tuner is probably more accurate than my Korg chromatic tuner. Your findings intrigue me greatly, Bryan T.
