Love the trapezoidal rack case too
I just got that a few days ago. As you can see, I have a ‘thing’ for VOX. I had this idea about having a rack that would match the rest of my amps.
This fellow in SoCal made it for me. His name is Scott Miyako. Check out his website!
Yeah I got a thing for Vox too, particularly british amps.
That amp in the middle is a Selmer “croc-skin” Zodiac Twin Thirty, sans original grillcloth and badge letters. It was a lucky find in the local music store.

How does the Taurus sound through the Leslie? I bet the polymoog through it is awesome.
I haven’t tried the T3 through it but it is a good bass cabinet.
In the early days of gigging with the Polymoog I used to put it through the Leslie - sounded great.
My own humble analog “constellation”.

How does the Taurus sound through the Leslie?
Hey, I wanna know how the Fender sounds through the Leslie! Beatley?
Stick,
I have two things about your setup.
Both of you cats have a thing for Vox. Thats interesting cause when I first laid eyes on the ac30 I wanted one really bad.

superd2112… nice! You don’t see a Prophet VS every day.
Looks like my setup - only I have a Roland Fantom-S88, I’m still waiting on the Taurus’ and haven’t ordered the LP yet… ![]()
Thanks! She’s not a Prophet VS, but rather a new Prophet '08. I may add some guitar/bass (my main instrument) pix once I snap a few with the Taurus in the foreground.
Sorry… at first glance, the font appeared to be “VS”. Also nice to see a new Prophet. Didn’t know they were still around. (If I didn’t have a Fantom…) ![]()
Just checked out the site - pretty cool! I think that Poly Evolver PE kinda looks like the old PPG Wave boards.
Hey MC,
KILLER setup man. You and CZ Rider are on a whole 'nother level. Wow!! ![]()
If you ever decide to part with your “Polymoog coffee table”, PM me ![]()
WOW. Is that a Hammond XK system? Want to sell it?
Yes that’s the XK Pro System. The lower manual really completes the package.
No it’s not for sale ![]()
Thats borderline obscene! Wowzers ![]()
MC,
Would you be so kind as to share with me what prompted you to arrange your studio in such a way? What interests me is your particular placement of certian keyboards. For example, why did you choose to seperate the Mini from the Poly and couple it with the Rogue? Is there a method there like pairing a strong mono with a strong poly or a polysynth with an organ or something like that?
Me, being OCD when it comes to some things would have wanted my Poly Taurus Mini to be together…but Im not a very good poly-keyboardist. Or I might have put the memorymoog on top of the Poly or something like that. You obviously have a lot to choose from so maybe I answered my own question but Im curious as to your thoughts on this.
Eric
That arrangement took a lot of thought. The MIDI recording station is centered around the Kurzweil MIDIBoard which is the master controller. The MB and drum kit are my two main controllers and have to be close to the computer sequencer keyboard which is right underneath the Voyager. Basically everything you see in the MIDI station has a MIDI interface (yes even the model D and Source). The Hammond XK is tied in but I couldn’t fit it in the circle but I CAN control it from the MB. If I have to record MIDI from the Hammond, the speakers rotate around so they can face the other way.
Ergonomics played a part. I like to do a lot of tweaking and I want the knobs to be convenient. The minimoog/source/voyager stack is pretty workable. The Andromeda and Memorymoog are my favorite tweaking tools so they are strategically placed. I have Kurzweil romplers out of sight underneath the racks, I pretty much did all the tweaking I needed years ago and have all the sounds I need, so they don’t need to be within arms reach. The drum rompler needs to be accessable so that was strategically placed next to the drum kit.
The Polymoog/Taurus 1/OB-SX are non-MIDI. That’s why they aren’t centralized. If I use them in a sequence, they have to DI to the multitrack. Multitrack is Alesis HD24 which is synced to the MIDI computer via MIDI machine control. It’s so fricking cool to press PLAY on the multitrack and having the MIDI devices slave along.
There is going to be a slight rearrangement as I have just added an Oberheim OB-X. It needs an overhaul and will receive an Encore MIDI retrofit. As soon as that is done, the OB-X will go where the Memorymoog is, the Memorymoog goes where the Andromeda is, and I’m getting another keyboard stand that will support the Hammond XK Pro and Andromeda, with the Taurus II underneath with a MIDI retrofit. I’ve been using MIDI foot pedals to play parts on the Andromeda and really like that setup.
Onstage would be an entirely different arrangement based on the music we’re covering. I used to use the MB for gigging but the last few bands I was in didn’t require MIDI control. My current live rig is narrowed down to a three tiered stack of Yamaha P-90, Hammond XK3, and Andromeda. The Andromeda mix modes covers the layers/splits I used to do with the MB, that’s why the MB wasn’t needed.
I wouldn’t have guessed Midi due to the D, and others. Interesting. I have way too much going on to try to tackle the enigma of Midi.
Thanks,
Eric
