Mike - VERY nice! Just out of curiosity, are those Jazz or P-basses?
Whoops, sorry

Very cool. I have a black Geddy Lee Jazz (one of my fave basses), & would love to have one of the new sunburst ones converted to fretless. Just let me know if you ever need a house-sitter - I’d make the trip from Colorado just to hear that MemoryMoog!
I have an Alvarez 4 string with EMG’s. They are really decent basses, though the original pickups in mine were crap.
Whats the story behind the Fender J’s?
Awesome pictures by the way.
Eric
I found the fretted one back in 2001. It’s a MIM model. It’s one of the GOOD ones - plays like butter, ultra thin neck, and the sound is unreal. The stock pups are low level and they pick up EMI, they’ve been replaced with Dimarzio Ultra Jazz which are much better. I also rewired integrated pots/pull switches so I can toggle single coil or double coil on any pickup, and phase reverse. Phase reverse is very useful.
Been hunting for a spare/backup, tried any MIM at any GC I could find but they couldn’t measure up. I hate cherry picking, especially Fenders. Then I found a used '98 fretless that was AS GOOD. SAME FINISH. Still has stock pickups which are HOT but still picks up EMI. Wasn’t planning on a fretless but I have good ear/motion memory and can play a fretless bass.
Both have Gotoh bridges, much better than the stock bridge.
Do you use the Radial J48 to di the moogs? How well does it handle the Taurus? I love it on my voyager.
I see an OBSX and T1’s back there too.
The J48 is the DI for bass guitar. On playback I got a Radial Reamp box driving the Ampeg amp so I can change the tone of the bass if needed. I’m getting a set for guitar too.
OBSX? Taurus 1? Tsk tsk, wandering eyes.

I notice the bass pedals leaning up on the side probably feel a little unappreciated these days, still feeling high and mighty about being .5 an octave more adequate. It is a bittersweet rationale.
That’s the side me likey! I’ve got almost the same setup, only I’ve got the OBX-a. Does your Polymoog work?
There’s two pedals leaning on their side.
The Elkas are leaning against the Polymoog. Displaced by the T3s and soon to be gone.
The T2s are barely visible on the left. I’m going to put a MIDI retrofit in them because they are a better feeling pedal controller than the Elka. I was using the Elka MIDI’d to the Andromeda and in mix mode I really liked that setup.
Yup, the Polymoog works. It’s a very late serial number with all the reliability upgrades. Bought it in 1985 and it’s held up real good. Doesn’t get used much these days and there’s no room in my living room for a Polymoog coffee table.
What’s your serial number? Mine is 3347…is that good or bad for me?
#4032.
The reliability upgrades were stock in serial #3900 and higher.
Very impressive collection, MC…

Stick_Player…
Nice setup.
Does the stick take much getting used to? I’d love to try one, but no store carries them here.
Does the stick take much getting used to?
Yes.
But, it depends on where one is coming from. I would liken Stick playing to piano playing. Two INDEPENDENT hands playing different parts.
Unlike bass, where your hands/fingers are most of the time playing the same rhythm to get one note out, the Stick would most of time be left hand tapping a bass line with some rhythmic chord tones while the right hand taps chords and melody/harmony lines.
The Stick in the above picture is an Alto Stick with a GR-3 MIDI pickup (melody side only).
I don’t think anyone ‘stocks’ Sticks. You need to either take the dive and get one from Stick (there’s about a year-long waiting list) or find one pre-owned. They seem to hold their value very well, so if you did buy a pre-owned model and it didn’t workout for you, you would be able to sell it fairly quickly.
I see them from time-to-time on Ebay and Craig’s List.

What a beautiful setup!
The Yamaha bass is very classy. Is it 35" scale? And what is the scale of an Alto Stick? Looks like 28".
I had one of the original Ironwood Sticks, but never got comfortable and didn’t really like the sound of the treble strings. I almost converted it to dual bass with one side fretless, but met someone who really wanted a stock Stick.
Any recordings of Stick plus Taurus?

Thanks!
Yamaha BB5000, 1985, this one is MIJ, all original. I have another one that is 1987, made in Taiwan with EMG active pups. These are 34" with tight string spacing. Not easy to slap n pop.
The Alto Stick is 26.5". It’s lowest playable pitch is a Low G (same pitch as the third fret G on a bass guitar). I rarely go below a Bb/A, cant get a good ‘tap’ on the lower few frets. I usually play the bass side through a Boss OC-3 to get the lower octave. The OC-3 can filter out the higher pitch strings so that I can grab a few chord tones.
As far as any Stick/T3 compositions… just starting to work in the T3. Coming soon, though.
Here’s the Stick you want:
