Question for Mr. A.
I’ve seen your countless emails back and forth with Amos documenting issues, asking for feature changes, etc. and I think I’m speaking for the Taurus community when I say “Thank you, to YOU” for pushing this along. I certainly haven’t had the time.
But my question is, how different is the latest versions of 1.2 that you’ve been tracking to 2.0 (knowing that you just got your hands on it)?
Is it just the [considered] complete version cleverly numbered to coincide with the announcement of the end of manufacturing?
(Amos, feel free to answer : ) but i did want to thank Mr. Arkadin. )
Thank you.
Thanks also to Mr. Arkadin!
The 2.0 numbering was not chosen to coincide with the end of manufacturing; really it’s just that there have been so many changes since the last official (non-beta) firmware version that a new major-revision number was called for. So the real story is that all of the v2 beta builds were still numbered as 1.x, while increasingly containing v2 features. The only difference between the last v1.x beta build and the v2 build are some bug fixes: I added the MIDI CC for LFO Clock Division, and fixed an arpeggiator clock-start bug. No other bugs were reported in testing, so my hope is that this version is complete.
Its my crappy old pc browser… couldnt get it.
Luckily a friend is living with modern technology and has procured the update for me…
Aaahhh the finer pleasures of firmware updates are mine! (Now lets see what this baby can do..) ![]()
I don’t know if I did something wrong, but in case anyone else tries the update, I’d just like to share my experience with it. I tried uploading 2.0 into Serial #30, and everything went fine until the reboot. Now, everything is messed up. Even after doing a Factory Restore in test mode, only more problems arose, namely the patch names are gobbledegook. I have been e-mailing Amos, and so far he has been very understanding and assistive (as usual, I might add), but now I can’t even reload the update due to xsys fail at page 54 of the upload.
I will keep you all updated as Amos and I try to get my Taurus back up and running, but I’d also like to hear your experiences with the update.
And like I told Amos, I’m using a Mac Snow Leopard machine using a USB cable running Sysex Librarian.
just wanted to point out that a system which has errors when sending sysex could be the source of the whole trouble. My last email suggested re-downloading the update files and setting sysex librarian transfer speed to 50% or below… haven’t heard back from you since that email, I don’t think, but did it help at all? Please reply by email so we don’t clutter up this thread.
Also, let me know what firmware version you were updating from, if you remember.
Well thanks for the thanks EMWhite and Amos. Being brought up old-fashioned British I got a bit
as we don’t handle compliments too well. There of course have been many great suggestions and testing from many other members too, so let’s not forget them (this is starting to sound like an Oscar acceptance speech now).
Sadly I have now hit a wall of work for the summer (Jubilee, Olympics, festivals etc.) and have not even had time to try this update in action. I have updated though and that went fine (XP SP3 via USB). The new calibration procedure worked a treat and seems much improved. I have yet to try some of the MIDI functions as I just haven’t had time, so I can’t say how much of an update 2.0 is compared to 1.20.
Now without wishing to appear ungrateful, could we have some news on an editor please? ![]()
If its still relevant, my update went super smooth.. Used midi not usb.. the erasing flash message came up twice but the included doc warned me of this.. Ive tried the velocity sensitivity and it works a treat, (the pedals are very sensitive - i’l have to work on my performance skills with my clumpy feet)
Anyway, no problems so far, although ive not done any serious work with it yet. Midi implementation looks cool.
Thanks! I will try that! ![]()
Edit…No dice. ![]()
Gith, do you happen to recall what Taurus firmware version you were updating from? I’m trying to find out if that might make a difference, for the folks who have had problems with the update.
