Sustain Pedal

Just unpacked and set up new Voyager XL as master Midi controller in one of my studios
The packaging contained a lovely Moog footwsitch
Yet I see nowhere to plug in a standard Midi Sustain pedal
Am I missing something? Is there a workaround?

Use the gate ENV input for it and have fun,
Rudi

My gratitude! MdV

The voyager is monophonic, why does someone want to use a sustain pedal with it? Or is there a special playing technique which i don’t know yet?

MIDI master controller will need a pedal at some point.

Hold notes while you play the TS and turn knobs is one reason.

while the other hand is still free to play on another keyboard. Good idea! I Like it!

Am I missing something?

I just tried 3 different sustain pedals, and 2 expressions
I can’t get it to work for some reason.

I think you’ll need a negative gate, i.e. a normally closed switch (push to break).

P.S. you can drone with the Env. gate rocker, but you probably knew that.

^yeah
When I move the rocker to “ext” I get the legato drone, but only when the pedal is pressed. Otherwise, there is no sound.

I suppose it isn’t a huge deal, but about a week after I got my Voyager, I had a session where a sustain pedal really would have come in handy (Playing another keyboard with my left hand, while doing some weird legato runs on the Moog with my right). I felt like a tool for having to ask the engineer to keep going back for me to overdub the Moog part with both hands.

check the settings in the menu.

I like to use the voyager as a master keyboard. So I plugged a sustain pedal into the Env Gate input, turned the env gate to on/external, but the sustain pedal does not seem to change the midi out messages.

Hast du nicht die 3.6 Version? Da kannst du jeden beliebigen Controller im MASTER Menue auswÀhlen.
Gruss,
Rudi

For those not speaking German, here’s the French translation:

“N’avez-vous pas la version 3.6 du logiciel ? Puisque vous pouvez utiliser n’importe quel contrĂŽleur dans le menu de sĂ©lection MASTER.
Cordialement,
Rudi”

Sorry, this was more a private message - the next time I will try to send it in Turkish

Nee, ich hab noch die 3.5.
3.6 finde ich irgendwie nicht. Entweder ich hab Tomaten auf den Augen, oder der Download wurde zu gut versteckt

Ben, bunun için hazır olacak.

Alain.

I did this for many years for live shows, where my Voyager doubled as a MIDI controler. My solution was to use an Anatek Pocket Pedal. It not only gave me a MIDI sustian switch but also a MIDI volume pedal. Only works for whatever was down the MIDI line, so unless the local was off and looped back, would not sustain the Voyager.

I just installed 3.6 and it worked

And i didn’t need to change something in the master menu.

Hi ya’s , can anyone please tell me how to use this, as it is just an ‘on or off’ switch.
I am using an XL ,
thanx,
Jeremy
