I’m pretty sure I remember seeing a way to do this, but can’t find it in the manual. Is there a straightforward way to set a Slim Phatty so that one of the knobs controls pitch, in case I want to use it to make theremin-like sounds without a keyboard?
There is no direct control with a knob of OSC 1 pitch. Just the keyboard. You could:
- Use glide to slide between notes
- Set mod source to ENV, destination to pitch, amp and filter ENV sustain at max, open the gate (put a dummy plug into the gate cv in or use a footswitch), hit a key for the lowest frequency, then use the mod wheel to control pitch.
- Use an external voltage source into the pitch cv in. As simple as a battery through a passive attenuator into the pitch cv in. Or as slick as a nice powered ribbon controller.
Duh!
Turn OSC 1 level all the way down. Turn OSC 2 level all the way up. Turn up the amp sustain and open the gate. Press the button for OSC 2 freq and turn the knob. Press a key to change the frequency at the center of the dial.
Reduces you to only one OSC but you get direct pitch control with a knob and you can make theremin like sounds.
