Why does it matter if the high shipping fees are justified or not? YOU DON’T HAVE TO BUY FROM MOOG PERIOD.
I didn’t realize it was discussed already, I only pop in here from time to time. I feel for you UK’ers and other folks who have to pay big bucks to ship from the US. I don’t know where the shirts ship from, but if its anywhere near NC where Moog is based, that’s less than 500 miles from me, I’ve never heard of such outrageous shipping costs for something that weighs a few ounces.
I have no problem paying what Moog charges for thier music gear, I have 3 'Foogers (no synth because I’m not a keyboardist, but if I was I would have a Little Phatty at the least). Moog’s music gear is top notch. But their shirts aren’t some specialty item made of holy threads or something. I just want a shirt made by a company who’s products I love and inspire creativity in me, that also look sweet. $15.25 shipping is crazy, there is NO reason for it, and Moog should know better than to do that to their customers. The same people buying Little Phattys, new Minimoogs and 'Foogers are the ones buying these shirts…
Subtronik, knock off the abrasive attitude in this thread. Maybe you have deep pockets to throw money around at anything, but many people don’t.
Ha, guy if you have 3 'Foogers then what is $15.25 for something you don’t even need?
I had no idea that suggesting alternatives to UPS was “badgering” Moog over their shipping options.
I just didn’t buy any t-shirts.
The USPS will deliver the empty boxes to you for nothing.
$4.95 to ship a t-shirt via Priority Mail.
http://www.usps.com/prices/priority-mail-prices.htm
Then they’ll come pick up the package when it’s ready to ship.
Imagine that.
If There’s a cheaper way to ship Moog gear from Moog, then I’m all for it.
Edited due to c7sus’s edit above me
The joke is on you because it’s better than even odds Moog will listen and do something different.
Probably sooner than you think.
Wanna bet?
Deleted… I don’t want to feed the trolls any longer.
My problem is when this same old ‘high shipping price’ gripe comes up it just turns into a bitch fest. I hate seeing people bitch about pricing when all they have to do is not buy. The market place will ultimately be the deciding factor in final pricing.
If Moog changed their t-shirt shipping fee from $15.25 to $5 right now that would be great, but after the last angry thread about this I seriously doubt that’s going to happen anytime soon.
Moog knows about the issue, so if anyone really wants a straight answer, email them directly.
If you consider that Moog electronics are astronomically priced, $15.25 isn’t a big deal in my opinion.
I agree with Subtronik, even though his antics here in this thread are rather crass. I had no problem paying for the shipping on my Moog hat. You know why? The total cost of the hat after shipping was $31.09. It’s the most comfortable hat I have ever worn…except for my suede fedora, which cost $50. I can easily spend $30 on a shirt…even my T’s cost $15-$25 each. (I buy specialty video game T-shirts mostly…they are expensive). Does the shipping seem outrageous? Yes. But if you can justify spending $300 or so on a phaser, you can justify paying $35-$40 for a T-shirt…or am I missing something? ![]()
Sure I was crass.
The thing that set me off was this:
Suggesting that Moog is intentionally ripping people off is really, really wrong, no matter what the intention is. How can you get ripped off if you have a choice to buy in the first place? In not like you’re forced into it. Either they’re a good company with good people or they’re not.
I take a lot of offense to that statement considering Moog has bent over backwards to fix any and all problems for me immediately, no matter how insignificant. And I am sure they have a good reason for charging higher shipping rates for their flair.
Deleted because it really did not add to the discussion.
No, I can’t justify $35-40 for a single t-shirt. I guess I must be missing something.
Especially when there is a carrier that will deliver the same package for 1/3 of what UPS wants for their service.
I can justify spending $300 on a phaser that will last the rest of my lifetime. There is lasting value in that expenditure. The same cannot be said about UPS rates. I cannot justify throwing away money needlessly paying 2nd or 3rd day rates for ground shipping.
I would have to agree on the shipping costs seeming high, but if I really really want an item, $15 is not really going to make or break me.
Exactly.
I only bought my hoody when I knew I could afford it.
I buy one MF’er a year, I didn’t buy them all at once. Get out of my thread Subtronik, I don’t care that you’re a millionaire. $30 for a shirt is one thing, but when a $23 dollar shirt has $15 dollars shipping, that’s where I draw the line. Its obscene. There is NO reason why it should cost that much, none. I’ll be making a call on Monday to see what one of the higher-ups has to say about this.
Sidewind is correct (See his comments posted right after Subtronik’s post, below). Therefore I’ve deleted this post, and my earlier post, because they are not about the original topic, and because it isn’t my place to correct others.
Thanks for the reminder, Sidewind… ![]()
I think that anyone suggesting that Moog is ripping people off looks bad. That’s my issue. But it is what it is, and I stand by my point. Have a good day.
Edited due to mayidunk editing out his trolling above me
I am often amazed at some of the posts here. Why do some people feel that they need to insult, belittle and “post-monger” in order try to convince people that they are right? Aren’t we all pretty much intelligent, mature people here?
Lately, this board is becoming much like the toilet that most other boards are on the internet. It is bad enough that we have people who feel they need to attack people in posts back and forth within the same hour. Once it stops becoming giving your opinion to constantly attacking people just to try and defend your opinion, IMHO, it is way too much. Get a fucking life. That is what PM is for. Argue all you want with someone in PM. Public posting is a waste of time for an argument or personal attacks.
Then, we need to post those fucking gay pictures that I see every 14 yr old posting on other forums. Do you think that makes you look good? Even if you are right, you look like an ass with such a childish post. We are all grown enough to read text and don’t need those stupid little photoshopped pictures.
I, like most here, look forward to coming here to talk with other mature people about Moog things & music. While it is everyone’s right to be an ass like that, you just drive people like us away. This will equate to much less interaction, ideas, sharing, etc. and further turning this place into another toilet. Don’t believe me? Use the search and look back at the posting history. There are many valuable people who have left this place over bullshit like this.
Try to also remember that just because you have the right to post something, doesn’t always mean that you should. I have the right to fight with my neighbor and call him as asshole if I think he is wrong. But that does not make it very easy to have to live next door to him for the next 10 or 20 years. Sometimes we all need to think before we act.
Oh, and my opinion on this - I do think that the shipping rates on Moog flair are way too high. That is why I never order any of it from them. And this comes from someone who is very fortunate to be able to afford a private, professional recording studio filled with quite a bit of Moog gear. Having the money or not, is not the issue. The shipping rates themselves are. And it is true that the only way that this can possibly change, is if we bring it up to Moog.
Michael…
My apologies to the forum for “post-mongering,” as Sidewind pointed out.
Thanks, Sidewind…
