sequencers

does anybody use a sequencer with their voyager? if u do what type you use? i was just wondering so i thought id ask.

laters.

ZEBRA

Yes, sure, your need a sequencer for the Voyager!
I prever analog sequencer with CV/Gate outputs. All the Inputs of Voyager makes it very flexibel. Sure you can use also midi, but i use my midiseq for other gear. At the moment i have a Schaltwerk and a MAQ16/3 both from Doepfer (both got also midi in/out and CV/Gate). There is a lot of stuff like this on the market, but you have to search a bit.

I want the Frostwave Fat Controller. Check it out here. Sounds like a good amount of features for the money. If anyone out there has one of these, I’d like to hear your comments…

what about the analogue solutions oberkorn that they dont make anymore has anyone check this out?

I use the fatController with the voyager, works great! I like to use channel A to sequence the pitch, channel B the filter. The fatController is ‘plug and play’, a tight little unit and FUN to use (solid build!).

Is the Fat Controler Midi or CV/Gate?

Arggggg Stephan u also have a shaltwerk and a MAQ, NOW IM EVEN MORE JEALOUS!!! hahah personally Im using a doepfer pocket control to sequence adern flexor inside creamware modular 3 which then goes out to the voyager. Mostly i use the voyager live tho.

:sunglasses: Both…
“In addition to putting out control voltages, a corresponding MIDI note output is provided. You can use this to drive any MIDI sound module or synth, or even a MIDI drum machine.”

ARP sequencer 1621

Believe it or not you can accomplish all this with your PC if you have a sequencing program and a midi hookup.

i do believe it, and im well aware of it. im kinda bored with computers at the moment. now dont get me wrong they have their place in any good setup.
i just want to be more hands on. playing with knobs is way more fun and musical IMO than a keyboard and a mouse. although itd be cool to have both

Just get your MIDI sequencer of choice to generate the patterns then tweak 'til your heart’s content on the Voyager front panel - make sure you have a method of recording though, 'cos you’ll certainly create stuff that you’ll want to keep and re-use.

No one mentions Logic, Cubase, or DP. I’ve been reading some of the threads here. I think this would be a good way to go. I plan to use my Voyager with Logic, being a Logic user.

Hi,
i thought we talkes about real HardwareSequencers!
Sure, i own CubaseSX2, tested Logic and a lot of other Software.
I use Cubase more for diskrecording, for midi or Gate/CV - Sequencing i honest prever Hardware (last order a P3 from Colin Fraser). I use for Cubase SX the Midex8, also from Steinberg, to egt best miditiming, but this is not as stable and tight like a QY700, MAQ or an MPC2000XL. Also i think it is nice recommendation if you got an analog stile Stepsequencer sitting next to your Voyager. I love to use Gate/CV for Filter etc…, sure, /
there are midi/cv-converters on the market (doepfer), maybe i have to try something like, but for me, there is no need, got enough hardwaresequencer

Hey Stefan,

I don’t have much experience with actual hardware sequencers. I should look into them. I’ve messed around with the software sequencer on Moog Modular V though.

damn stefen you have a whole bunch of sequencers i want. i am slightly jealous. id get that P3 except i dont know how to solder. out of all your hardware sequencers which are your favorites? i mean analog style because thats what i intended this topic to be about.

on a different but related note is anyone familiar with the serge sequencers? im thinking of getting a touch keyboard sequencer, cuz of the cool little buttons it has, but its expensive and id end up wanting a whole modular setup to compliment it, like a quantizer andprobALY some other shit, i dont know. but on the egres website they haVe sequencers and sequencers programers and whole bunch of other cool sounding stuff i dont know about. itd be cool to have s modular setup just for sequencing. itd be cool to just have a modular setup. …a badass setup.

Well, if you make music over years, equipment comes and goes!
I think about selleng the MPC, it is a nice and tight sequencer, but i don’t use this one in the last year!
Mostly i use QY700, MAQ, Schaltwerk, Monomachine and MachineDrum (-together with XBase09). But not everything at the same time (less is more).
P3 wil be something special for, i guess, ok. it’s only midi, but look at the specs, it can control nearly everything (hope P3 arriving my home soon)
Cheers,
Stefan

Ahh, i used also the FR777 together with Voyager, Because of CV/Gate-OUT of the FR777 it is a nice duo.

Stefan

If MOOG would produce a sequencer, i would think about this one, the latest moogerfooger “Murf” is one thing on my need-to-have-list.
Stefan

You can’t modulate the cv inputs (filter, wave, lof etc…) with software… Can you?

that’s mostly what I lke my fat controller for.
