Sequencer Oddities

Firmware: 1.1.20, Editor 0.9.39

While creating and editing sequences I ran into the following (mis)behaviors:

  • “C-2” is interpreted as “no pitch defined” or “mute”. Except if the sequence is exactly one step of length (the initial sequence), then the first note is always played although it is a “C-2”. I would suggest to either label “C-2” in the editor accordingly as “N/A” or “OFF”, and introduce consistent behavior. Maybe it would be better if “C-2” always played a note.
  • “C-2” is interpreted differently for Pitch 2 of Duo Mode: It means “as the second note played”.
  • “C-2” in Pitch 1 is also interpreted as “mute” for the Pitch 2 in the same step.
  • If Pitch 2 is defined (with Preset in Duo Mode), then the second played note does not have an impact on Pitch 2 but instead the whole sequence behaves as if it was monophonic, i.e. the second played note moves the root of Pitch 1 and Pitch 2.
  • When editing the pitch of a step: The first movement always increases the pitch by one step even if moving the mouse down.

I don’t know whether this is all as designed or not, but it wasn’t exactly was I expected.

I experienced this also just now, but only if a step wasn’t edited yet. Changing the second time, if you move down, the step will also decrease.

Bernard

Oh, and regarding the sequencer:

I would really like to see the current step highlighted in any way, when a sequence is running. I think it would make editing much easier.

Sorry for hijacking,

A good suggestion, and actually also appears as a feature request on the lists. It won’t be something which will get into this release however.
