I was wondering if it is possible to send written in midi to my sub phatty and have it play what I write out. I see that you can hook up another midi ontroller but it would seem like I should be able to send midi via my audio/midi interface. does anyone have any insight on this?
There’s a HUGE list of programs that will let you create MIDI tracks and use them to control external MIDI hardware (Moog or otherwise) ~
It depends on what computer you’re running (unless you’re looking for something specifically for the iPad - then the list narrows a bit), what features you want, how much you’re willing to spend, and how much time you’re willing to invest in learning the software.
While there are probably some very simple MIDI-only recorder apps, most software packages to process audio & MIDI are very full-featured applications. They’re commonly referred to as DAW - Digital Audio Workstation software.
Some of the better-known packages on the list include:
