Hi just want some help got the slim phatty a few days ago an its really cool just what i was after, got it working good with ableton live,
so i just do know how to back up the presets to my computer so that i can start to over righting some it the box
You can buy an app from Moog that allows you to manage presets, saving and loading from comp etc. OR you can hazard your chances and use the VST plugin.
However, reports of the VST plugin vary wildly, I personally tried it and the latest beta version with Ableton live - much to no avail.
I suggest you buy the preset manager app, and save presets along side your set data.
I havent run in to this problem yet, im not really overly attached to the factory presets i guess its a problem i’ll run into when i run out of space.
You can save preset to your computer without buying the preset editor.
Midox is freeware for windows machines, Macs have a midi utility but I forget the name (not sure of the $$$).
Using midiOX is pretty straight forward. In midiOX View: sysex, Sysex: receive manual dump. Then on the LP, send preset/bank. Then in midiOX, Command Window: save as. Done!
If you have questions or problems, someone here can most likely help.
@mikeytrw thanks, I installed the moog preset manager app demo was’nt sure what to do with it an dont realy want to pay for that unless i know its going to work, demo has’nt helped.
am still hoping they get that vst working with live,
I tryed the demo of the phatty VST just could’nt get the settup right looked at a few screen shots off a few post on here the vst never need did anythink to the SP or the other way around.
@Sir Nose thanks, Using midiOX looks cool Ionly have the slim phatty hooked up with a USB no midi cables is that ok or do i have to get some to use this program.
I would think you can connect usb to usb using midiOX, it’s just the data that matters. I have a stage 1 and m-audio uno that connects my phatty midi in/out to my computer’s usb port. Once, you figure out how to save using midiOX, it is a snap. If you get a midi loop using midiOX, click on the route 66 button and disable the internal send.
It’s also very easy to load the presets or banks you saved.
