Just recieved my copy of Damon Albarn’s new album ‘Rocketjuice and the Moon’ featuring Flea from the Chilli Peppers on bass and Tony Allen of Afrobeat fame on drums. If you haven’t already heard it then I’d thoroughly recommend it - Damon deploys loads of dirty synth melodies, bleeps and bloops all over the shop. I had the good fortune to see this band last October and Damon was using a Moog Little Phatty throughout. Does anyone know how how he created some the lead sounds he uses on this record. I’m certain there’s a freqbox in there somewhere, but some of the other tracks (notably 1-2-3-4-5-6) he uses a very dirty sounding voice (almost like an electric drill). I’m assuming he’s detuned one of the oscillators but I’m unsure. Any ideas?
