Hello Everyone,
I’m going to be straight up with this forum. I’m a drummer and know next to nothing about moogs. I am in a band (no keyboards), and we would like to tackle some songs with bits and pieces of sounds unique to specific songs.
I am looking for just the Synth intro to Red Rider’s Lunatic Fringe. About 50 seconds.
Also REO Speedwagon’s Ridin’ The Storm Out Intro.
I’m using Roland’s TD-15 E-drum. My thought… if there was an mp3 (or wave) file of just the Synth Intro, I can sample the intro through my module.
I’ve gone through the cursory Google search of sound effects, mp3, youtube, video’s, etc, and have found nothing. I don’t know the in and out of samples. If this is an illegal process, let me know and I will stop. I will only use that sound clip in our performances
Do any of you do requests of creating samples such as this?
Since Moog has never been known to make samplers, this is probably not the best forum to ask on. Surely some of the fine folks here could answer your questions, though you’ll get a much more knowledgeable group of people on a sampler specific forum.

Thank you… I will do that.
Hi,
There are a few layered things in that Red Rider Lunatic Fringe opening. Sounds like a couple different synths and a guitar all with some effects processing etc. I bet it would be quickest to find a Karaoke version of the song and just sample the opening. I’m not sure what the legal concerns are for doing this but Karaoke tapes are usually licensed for live use in bars and clubs (I think) so I would think it “might” be OK. I always liked that song too, in particular for the rhythmic stuff going on at the end (the siren makes for a cool poly rhythm against the song and the the extra couple beats added shortly after for the 1234 punch is great!
)
The REO Speedwagon Ridin’ The Storm Out Intro is much easier. Pretty much any mono synth with a dual VCO that has a sawtooth (or narrow pulse maybe) wave output, glide/portemento tracking, a high pass filter and an internal or external delay should get you there. If you already have an iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch you can probably find a synth app that can do it . . .try Moog’s Animoog app!
