Anybody every seen this? In my opinion it looks a little “home made” all stuck together. I’m thinking about having the VX 351, CP 251 and all other foogers sitting flush against each other without the wood present, and then a patch bay that corresponds with the backs of the foogers. Any thoughts on this? Or maybe photos? Please discuss
I did this and I regret doing it. I don’t like the way it looks and I am panning on putting the panels back on and creating a wood cabinet myself.
any pictures?
While the Moogertron thing looked pretty cool, it still looked very homemade. Depending how much empty space there is inside the fooger pedals, I’d even consider cutting the lower part off (stomp switch) to make the unit look less like a “pedal” and more like a modular unit and then mount it either by tig welding little “90’s” on unit, or using the existing screws for the wood panels.
We get an excellent response when people see our Moogertron. Maybe it looks better IRL.
Of course, you are entitled to your opinion, but in what way do you think it looks homemade? I’m not offended, just wondering if there are aspects to improve on for next time. ![]()
This isn’t possible for foogers like the delay or the phaser, although perhaps later versions of them went SMT and shortened the board. It would work for the 101, 2, 5X and 7
As part of a to-do list of gargantuan proportions, CP-style foogers is somewhere on the list. What we have works well (and turns heads) right now.
The construction is excellent, and well-crafted using good ideas. What I mean is that the fact the the pedals are attached as is makes it look like a wall of gear instead of 1 complete (modular) system. Maybe my idea isn’t even feasible since there isn’t sufficient space in those pedals to modify them (shorten). It’s the wooden sides more then anything though. I’d like to see the guy’s with the panels off construction.
I totally understand what you’re saying.
The question is: when you go with new panels, must you be limited to 19"? If not, it would be cake to re-mount the foogers with front panel sockets and in a much more compact fashion.
Another way would be to add mounting hardware to the PCBs and panel mount the pots and switches. Not so easy for the switches… This way the circuit board could be any length and the panel mount sockets would have enough clearance to not hit the PCB. Currently it isn’t possible to just “add” the sockets to the footswitch part of the pedals like the delay and phaser.
If 19" is a must, it might be possible to stagger the MFs so they fit together.
E.g.
101----103
104----105
etc.
Then the sockets could be mounted so they wouldn’t hit the boards.
The current thinking/dream is one big panel. Possibly backlit like the Voyager ![]()

sounds very sick. I’m into it! I’d love to see that.
I found that if you can encase it with a matching wood cabinet, it looks ok.
Originally, I was bummed out because I found that the pedals didn’t fit flush together perfectly like the CP-251’s. All I had to do was slightly loosen the screws a bit, and kinda nudge them over and it was all good. Now it looks great AND keeps the dust out.

Could you post a picture for us? I’d really like to see something like this.
