R.I.P. Les Paul

I kept meaning to go see him play in NYC… never procrastinate!

Sad to see him go, he really was an amazing person!

I was lucky enough to see him twice in NYC (aged 89 and 93 respectively)… while his motor-skills may have declined he was still sounding great on the guitar and was as sharp and witty as ever. A real entertainer and innovator!

You had to rub it in, didn’t you…

heheh - really wasn’t trying to…

also, most people forget he pioneered multi-track recording…

Yeah, he invented SOS and developed the first multitracks. He made so many great contibutions to music in the last century that will forever be used.

very sad news. i play a les paul standard mostly 7 days a week..
miss you Les.

My first electric guitar was an Epiphone Les Paul Studio Chameleon LimitedEdition. Simply said, it is the most beautiful musical instrument I have ever seen. I am in the process in upgrading it to Gibson level with Gibson pickups, superior pots and a neck job by a professional.

I choose it, not because of Lester himself, who I knew was somehow legendary, but for the fact most of my favorite bands use one. I knew very little about the man itself.

The article from the link above is chock-full of juicy details about the man’s live. Very well made. I now have a whole new vision about the man and his accomplishments. I can’t help but to think about those of a man whose own influential work is the very reason of us all assembled here.

R.I.P Mr Paul… Your name will live forever!

ohhh man this is so sad. i knew it would happen eventually, but you know you never really want it to.
he and Bob are probably cooking up something great in the afterlife

At the age of 94…wow. Such a genius, and to have lived as long as he had, to have inspired as many as he did…so amazing. Truly the Bob Moog of the guitar universe. RIP, Mr. Paul.

yeah its so sad.. we knw theres an end to evry matter. we’ll just pray to their souls..

Thanks for those. The man was nothing short of a legend. Here’s a video I found from a while back.
