I make a ton of my own patches, so I delete any default patches I don’t like. Let’s just say I want to delete Bank 1 Patch 12. It seems I have to INIT the Patch, and INIT the Sequence, and then save them both, tons of button presses. Does anyone know a way to delete them at the same time? Or is there some kind of Patch/Seq Link function I don’t know about? Thanks.
I’m not aware of a single “clear both” command on the Muse, and I suspect the split is deliberate: patch and sequence are stored as separate objects so you can audition one sequence across different patches. That’s useful when writing, and annoying exactly in your situation.
Two workarounds that cut the button presses a lot.
The one I’d try first is building your own blank slot once, then reusing it. INIT the patch, INIT the sequence, save that as a template into a slot you don’t mind sacrificing. From then on, “deleting” Bank 1 Patch 12 becomes: load the blank template, save-as into slot 12. Two operations instead of the full init dance every time, and the result is identical.
The other, if you’re clearing many slots in one go, is to do it off the instrument. If you can dump the bank over SysEx to a computer, overwrite the slots you want emptied with the blank template’s data, and send the bank back, you clear a dozen slots in one pass. Worth doing a full backup dump first so you have a restore point.
Slightly separate question worth asking yourself: do you actually need slot 12 empty, or do you just want it out of the way? If the Muse lets you re-sort or filter what you browse, hiding the factory patches you don’t like might be less work than blanking them one by one — and it’s non-destructive if you later want a factory patch back as a starting point.
If there is a hidden Patch/Seq link function, someone with more Muse hours than me will likely correct me here, and I’d like to know too.
