if Doubling is disabled (0), the sound of the OSC is very thin, almost muted. Furthermore, the Waveshape knob does not affect the sound any more.
Do you guys have any idea about what may be happening and if it is serious?
I recently moved my gear to the garage which is pretty cold compared to the room it was in before (from 80f to about 60f). This is a temporary situation as I will be building the actual studio in 2 months. Do you think the change of temperature may affect the Micro as described?
The problem you are experiencing with your Micro may well be a component failure unrelated to where you have relocated your gear.
Since I’m not very versed on the inner workings of the Micro, I won’t speculate. Someone else may be of more assistance in this regard.
The thing to be careful of with your gear if its situated in a garage or basement is not necessarily cold (as 60f doesn’t sound very extreme),
but exposure to moisture, dampness, or excessive airborne dust.
These factors can create corrosion and oxidation on the metal surfaces,
key, and board contacts, and thus should be avoided.
If you must store equipment over a period of time under such ambient conditions, using dessicant packs to absorb moisture (if equipment is not
set up) and gear covers or anti-static plastic (to keep airborne dust that settles in the keybed to a minimum) will help protect your gear.
