Hey!
is there a possibility to only use one miditrack for the editor and one audiotrack to receive the audio?
i always have to use an external instrument that sends midi to my moog (im working in ableton live).
is there a possibilty to directly send the midi from my sub37editor channel to the sub 37?!
im using a fireface uc. input channels in the editorwindow are uc-midi in and uc-midi out.
i worked with the soundtower plugin for my prophet 8 for a while and there was no problem
using the the same track to send midi.
Hi, maybe I’m not understanding what you are trying to do… as far as I know, there’s no problem at all to use two tracks, one MIDI and one audio.
If you are using Live’s “external instrument” plugin, that’s essentially putting MIDI Out and Audio In on the same track, right? Except the track records MIDI… not easy to record audio on the same track unless you “freeze” it…
anyway to answer your question directly, just create a MIDI track and set its MIDI output to be the Sub 37. Any MIDI clips you play on that track will play to the Sub 37.
Then create an audio track and set its audio source (input) to be the Sub 37 – meaning whichever channel of your audio interface has the Sub 37 plugged into it. You can put the Sub 37 Editor as a plug-in on the audio track, no problem.
You can also use the first set-up, with the External Instrument and Sub 37 Editor on a MIDI track… and then create as many more audio tracks as you want, and set the audio track source to be the Sub 37 audio… you can record the audio from the Sub 37 on any track, it doesn’t have to be the same track that is hosting the editor or an external instrument plugin… there are a lot of options.
Does any of this address the question you are asking? I hope so; if not we can try again
hey
no i was asking if it is possible to trigger the sub 37 from a midi clip on the editorplugin track. so that i dont need another external instrument
You can certainly trigger the Sub 37 from a basic MIDI track. (no external instrument plug-in is needed)
However, I don’t think you can put the Sub 37 Editor alone on a MIDI track, because its plug-in type is “audio effect” (I think this was chosen because not all DAWs support “MIDI effect” type plug-ins). If you are using a plain MIDI track, though, you will also need an Audio track for the Sub 37 audio… and you can certainly put the Sub 37 Editor plug-in on that audio track.
