Possible to use Phatty without midi loop?

Hello group,

Is there a set up I can use to record cc data using a slim Phatty as the controller without creating a midi loop? I’ve tried every configuration I can think of (using midi for in / usb for in etc, using different midi input - one from usb / one from standard midi etc) but still get the same problem.

My desired workflow is:
a) Record the midi notes (using usb keyboard - also has midi out)
b) jam and then record cc using the Slim Phatty as the cc controller

I’m also using the VST but just to store programmes in sequencer.

My system setup is:
Ableton live 8
OXS 10.7.4
USB midi external keyboard

Yeah thanks that works.

Now to get the vst working in OSX with ableton.
