Pattern initialization doesn't work on Mother32

I own three mother32s, and have always sequenced them via midi. I have lately been exploring the internal sequencers, and have been having problems with one of them. When I try to initialize a pattern by pressing shift+reset+pattern, on two of my mother32s, it works as expected, clearing out the pattern and playing a repeating C note. On the other one, it does nothing.

I purchased the offending mother32 secondhand, and it is loaded with patterns from the previous user. Since the pattern initialization doesn’t do anything on that one, I’ve tried programming notes over the existing patterns, but it maintains the existing glide/note ties, etc., which makes the sequencer basically unusable.

Is there some kind of write-safety thing going on here that I’m not aware of? I wish there was a way to reset the Mother32 to factory settings, but I’m not seeing anything in the manual that explains how to do that.

I have the same issue, maybe the thread opener had found a solution in the meantime?

I have the same problem. Tried updating firmware and resetting to factory settings via sysex file. These steps did not work. I discovered a workaround. I go to a pattern that doesn’t have a sequence and copy that pattern to the spot I want to initialize. Doing this writes over the sequence and it is as if it was initialized.
