Patch lingo (sync & seq)

I notice that many pre-made patches have a sync or seq variation. Sometimes the seq version sounds weaker, so I’m sure some setting needs to be tweaked to bring out the magic.

Also with sync, It seems its a term in the patch world that means a specific sync. I’m guessting that it’s 1-2 osc sync. It that THE sync people are refering to , or might it be a number of things.

A seq patch is an analog of patches usually meant to be used with a step sequencer.
Sync patches are patches with OSC SYNC.

Okay, most of the “Sound Categories” that are listed with patehec are used as either a guideline or some sort of comparison, or a brief explanation of what element makes the sound what it is.

For exaample, one some of the Bernie Worrel Presets, they are in the sound category of Sync. This means that the primary key to that sound is Osc 2 doing a hard sync to Osc 1.

Some are “Classic” letting you know that this is a typical classic synth sound, or “PAD” meaning that its a mellow and slowly evolving effect. Others like Instrument denote that the patch is an attempt at a specific instrument replication. Theres Percusion, SFX, ORGAN, Model D (which denotes that it is supposed to be a recreation of the original MiniMoog).
Theres Basses and Leads and others.

That, to me, is a very thoughtful feature thats not necessary but the fact that they thought to put that in there says a lot about the people behind the software.

You can turn these off by the way.
