Patch a CP-251?

I know there´s a lot of patch threads, but I thought this was a more specific question.
I´m in the process of making a patch for my foogers and a CP-251 is the next one to get. But I´m not sure whether I will include it in the patch. What are your experience of patching or general use of the CP-251?

Here´s my pros and cons of including the CP-251 in the patch:

  • The patch i already got is not 1/4" but one with smaller dimensions (see picture), and so it´s less expensive to use that one than buying a new one. And I would have to make cables with plugs that fit the patch on one side and 1/4" on the other to go into the CP-251.
  • Also the patch panel is one where you solder the connections and therefore I can buy 1/4" cables and cut them in half, which will also cut the cable costs in half since I then don´t need 1/4"-plugs that go into the patch as most 1/4"-patch panels seems to demand.
  • I will need 12 1/4"-cables to connect the 251 to the patch which will add almost 10% to the price of the CP-251
  • It might be annoying having all plugs in so I don´t see labels that easy or they might be in the way when tweaking

Buy some bulk microphone cable from www.parts-express.com and some plugs, and make your own. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=100-280

This is how I make cables: I buy 30 feet of cable at a time, and 30 plugs at a time, and total cost after shipping is somewhere around $48. This will get you 30 1foot cables. Or, you can make 15 foot long cables and 15 6 inch cables. Have more cable than plugs? Buy more plugs!
