My live workhorse (sub phatty) has lost octave control over its second oscillator.
The pitch adjust for the oscillator works, but not the octave control chicken head.
Any ideas what could be causing this or how to fix it? Even though I use it live, I always have it on a secure table
or in its road case; If I could push it around in a pram I would. Putting pressure on the switch did nothing, neither did resetting
the synthesizer or running a pitch note adjust cycle.
You have to replace the switch…
Andy from Moog answered as following:
This failure has occurred on a fraction of a percent of the total number
of units produced, and usually happens after 2-3 years. It hasn’t
reached the threshold where it can be considered a “trending” failure
and based on our Weibull calculations it probably will not be covered in
the future under any extended special warranty. My apologies.
Does anyone know if these switches are proprietary or if we can order them from Digi-Key or the like? My 37’s osc1 octave switch stopped working, and also my sub phatty which I’ve since sold to a friend had the mod waveform switch go on me, and then the octave switch go on my friend. I’d love to buy 6 or seven of these and just hold on to them for future repairs (they aren’t that hard to change if you have a proper desoldering station and the skills) and based on my two sub series having 3 switches go in around 3 years total time they seem to fail a lot (or at least mine do). Maybe I’m hard on them?
