Hi! I kick myself every year for not getting one when they were still available, but at the time I had this aesthetic going that I wanted to keep up with on all my guitars with their straps, and I’ve lived with that frustration for over a decade. I would send a yearly email to the Moog team, sometimes they’d be optimistic about one hiding in a box somewhere, but after InMusic, everything is accounted for and they have none. If you know someone who knows someone or if you own a strap yourself and are willing to sell, please pm me. At the end of the day I just want a matching strap for a guitar that’s going to be with me for the rest of my life.
I even spoke with Ser Paul on all things strings and straps, but sadly he doesn’t even own one. Side note later for strings*
I’m a mildly successful sound designer and my E1 has made it into every project I’ve worked on, the biggest films being the latest Star Wars trilogy, the last few episodes of Breaking Bad, Knives Out, Glass onion, both IT chapters and the recent HBO series, Chernobyl, Half Life: Alyx and many others. It really doesn’t pay much but it’s a fun side hustle, just wish I could pursue creative sound with a full time salary.. I’d give up my white collar life in a heartbeat!
I’ve done plenty of live shows with my various bands and toured several times, but realised I freaking hate touring. I love performing, but the waiting and traveling and what I received in return would make it really not worth it, so bandwise I just stick to my home city on the odd occasion we’ll sync back up together. I have the most fun at our quirky local festivals here in Australia called Vivid, Lightscape and White Night, where I’d just make spooky sounds and improvise for a few hours (with synths as well) and do some creative tinkering for a immersive aural and visual adventure. I was in talks to perform a 24 hour show for Dark Mofo but had to withdraw for personal reasons, hopefully they’ll let me come back.
*Strings
For any other E1 owners out there though, the very best strings are the d’addario EPS series. I have personally found them to carry far more energy than the original Moog strings. The last official strings I came across for sale were in Jakarta, however the store refunded me before posting them as they opened them up and they had completely rusted through. (I still have one set that I will never open for use, and are now properly sealed to avoid the same fate). Currently I’m using a heavier guage and tuned down to C, it takes slightly longer to reach upper harmonics (milliseconds but noticeable if you’re familiar with the stock response times). Regular sustain and string sustain with the heavier guage and EPS, man, if plugging the guitar in and not turning your amp on with the sustain just ringing out naturally was a cat purring, this would be a nuclear bomb.
While I’ve got this space, I need to find a minimum 5 metre long 5pin cable. AI and google give me conflicting information because while DMx and 5pin xlr are interchangeable, they carry different wattage so I have no idea what to get. If someone could help me there you would be a Saint.

If you own anything with a CV output (say a beatstep pro or some modular Eurorack) and have yet to use the cv functions on your expression + power pedal, do yourself a favour and experiment with plugging a random cv patch to the pedal and you’ll be a child on Christmas day.
But seriously, priority 1 is a matching, real life strap, priority 2 is functionally far more important for live performances but I’ve wanted the strap longer so in reality my obsession with getting one is probably shining through a bit harder. If you have a strap that you’re willing to sell but you’re worried it’s going to end up with someone who will flog it off to ebay, more than happy to share videos as proof of ownership, my studio, performances and various pseudonyms privately. If even happily trade and buy you a pedal and pay for postage wherever you are if the cash isn’t as important.
It’s 520am here so my post is probably reading like scatterbrain, and it probably is, but if you have knowledge of the correct 5 pin cable to order id very much like to hear from you, and yes I did raise a ticket asking but even they weren’t so sure. I just don’t want to risk killing my guitar by sending it too much power.
If you’ve got a strap and you’re on the fence, I totally understand, and all I can offer is my reassurance that it will be loved and remain on the guitar it was destined for, for however many years or decades I have left.
