Official 2009 Moog Halloween Theremin Video Poll

Vote here for the best video in the 2009 Halloween Theremin Video Contest

0 voters

First off, let me say that we are overwhelmed by the out-pouring of imagination and skill that went into the making of these videos! I’m sure that Leon and Bob are both enjoying them as well.

These efforts span the spectrum from campy comedy to high art (often in the same video). Our applause goes out to all of you. We here at the factory have been getting quite a kick out of these, and probably not getting our work done because your work was so good.

So, now that the posting deadline has passed, it’s time for the voting. There will be two prizes awarded; one for the winner of this poll and the other for the most YouTube video views by November 30, 2009 at 12:00 pm EST.

Listed below are those videos that were posted by the deadline, and that sufficiently complied with the rules. We tried to balance rule enforcement with fairness to all. In any case, all contestants who entered on time will receive a Moog T-shirt, even if you did not make the final list. All contestants will be contacted shortly through their YouTube account for shipping information etc.

Well… the moment of truth has arrived. Here is the poll. The poll is open to all, not just the video creators. Please vote for the video you think is best. Please vote only once. You are on the honor system here. Remember Bob and Leon are watching.

Contestants! Spread those videos! Don’t forget the prize for most YouTube views.

The reason we structured the contest the way we did is to encourage you to share your art as widely as possible. You all are great. Let people know. Use the social networks (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter etc.), blogs and plain ol’ email to get your videos out there. You worked hard on these, let the world see them.

Here is the list of videos in roughly the order that they were posted. The URL is included in the poll choice for identification purposes since some of the videos had the same title. Please watch them all and choose the best.

Id like to thank everyone that has voted for me. It really means a lot to me that you liked my video enough to vote for it. There are so many great videos and personally it is against my nature to be in competetion with anyone over an artistic work because appreciation is enough and the “Best” is subjective.

Thanks again for all of your support and I feel honored thusfar to have gained any votes other than my own.

Best of luck to everyone.

Respectfully

Eric

i am loving “Pure analog sound on the night of halloween”. great music, great video, and a whole lot of moog

Dyster Allhelgona deserves an honorable mention. I think this is the best video I have seen in a long long time.

Eric

I agree that it is unfortunate that many people who register do not maintain contact with the forum(s), and/or may just register to vote, but at the same time, I also believe that if someone enjoyed a video that much that they want to register and vote, then they should be allowed to. Also, who’s to say that some of the people attracted to the forums by the contest won’t become users of and fans of Moog products! Its just spreading the good word of Bob Moog in my opinion!

+1, that has got to be one of the greatest moog vids on youtube, even without the halloween references.

Alot of people who have registered to vote on my behalf have yet to have their accounts activated.

Happy Thanksgiving, Mooglomaniacs!
If you haven’t voted for one of these films, please do.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has voted on the videos so far. There is way more votes than I thought there would be! Continue enjoying those awesome videos! :astonished:

I have to say there were some good videos, but my favorite was the etherferatu, because the maker of the video used the theramin as the main character and the music was just great. Who would have thought such ghastly sounds could sound so great!

Dave Ryan

Thank you very much, Mind, that is very kind of you.

The tension in the air is so thick! So little time left. I can’t wait to see the turnout of the poll! :open_mouth:

Tell me about it!

I really like your video Rob, its great. the Doctors glasses were sweet! Very creative.

Eric

Thanks Eric! They were a spur of the moment impromptu to try and make him look a bit more ‘mad scientist’. We are starting work on the full movie version. So far got a plot outline made and scripting is starting shortly. Know anyone who is selling an HD video camera per chance? LOL!

Has anyone been contacted about shirts by the way?

I have to say, no offense to the video or the creator, but the “halloween theremin” video was one of the least creative and showed some of the least amount of skill out of all of these. I’m rather disappointed and I can probably speak for a few others as well. I was hoping that the most competition would be coming from quality videos and playing such as “Phantasma”, “Etherferatu”, “Night/Dawn of the Theremin”, “Pure Analog Sound…” and the like, not this one. That said, sad indeed. But C’est la vie I guess. :frowning:

I would like to thank my friends, family members and co-workers who took the time to register and vote on my video.

Congradulations Analoghaze and Thereminraul

Im glad this contest is over with, now I can get back to normal.

THe last thing I wanted to see come Nov, 02 was “Vote until the 30th”

Its been a hell of a rollercoaster ride since the first day of shooting, to the submission, to today.

I thought that the Night/Dawn of the Theremin was funny and good production level. I knew with that entry that this contest was going to be a hard one to win.

I laughed my butt off at the winning submission!

“They are watching you” was very spooky - I really enjoyed it.

Happy Halloween 2009 - excellent sounds going on there, nice studio!

Rob, Ive already told you your video was great lol.

Mood and the Moog- I really liked DEATH! I liked how you entered from one side and left from the other like a Classical Pianist.

Space Landscape- I was so happy to see an Ethervox (You wanna donate it to the Rhythmicons Charity for Starving Artists?) I love the sounds you had Midid up there.

Raul,
Damn fine video there, loads of Moogs. Just goes to show you theres NEVER TOO MUCH MOOG on a track! lolol

Dyster- I really thought this was the video to beat. This one gripped my emotions like a real film would. Very excellent. I think you shoudl get a prize.

Halloween Theremin Nightmare- This is also one of my favorites! I loved the fact that you did Jeckyl and Hyde. I thought “Wow, this guys intonation is great” then you pulled a Jimi Hendrix and did everything to that theremin except Burn it. Freakin Great Job!!!

Nightmare before Halloween- I was really impressed by the music and the imagery you had going on in here.

Gordon- I have seen your videos a long time and I think you have some extremely creative entries.

Phantasma- Ive told you already on the thereminworld forum, but Ill tell you again you need to stick around here because your video was exceptional. Very good intonation and good cinematography.

-Chromatic Fantasy- Man It takes some skill to play the piano like you did, and I too have used my head and various other parts of the body to play my theremin! I enjoyed it very much and I was glad to see a Russian taking part in Mr Termin’s legacy.

There was a missing video that I thought was nice. I think the contestand pulled the vid? Showed what looked to be the beach? Still a great contribution, wish I could watch it again.

There was also a robbie the robot video that I thought was hillarious too that I don’t see anywhere on here.

Everyone,
I wanted to give my analysis in real time as I saw these coming out but I wanted to win too, lol. I think that everyone here definately contributed to Theremin Culture. I think ive said that a few times, but really, I believe that so few people in the world really know about this instrument. In the future, people are going to be seeing these videos and think that we are either all on drugs or crazy doing the things that we did with these theremins! hahaha. It was a pleasure to have an entry beside all of yours and I hope that all of you will stick around and contribute to the forum.

I hope I didn’t leave anyone out!

Most Respectfully,

Eric

Thanks to Moog Music for the opportunity for this.

John

so is it even over for real yet? b/c i noticed based on the noon stop time that one person should have won, but that votes have been continually tallying all day.

on top of all that…

i don’t find the results to be that accurate as I still have 6-8 people that have yet to receive administration approval to even enter the site and vote and those people that didn’t receive it until today wouldn’t have had a chance to vote because of the poll’s stop time.
