Note hanging/midi-problems

Hi,
I just bought an SP, and it sounds great. But I´ve been experiencing strange midi-problems.
Firstly, the unit stopped making sound. I had connected a midi cable from a microkorg and suddenly the sound disappeared. I then connected the SPs USB to my DAW (logic) and the sound came back. But after a few hours i noticed a low frequency tone that became more and more dominating. I tried turning it off, pulling out the USB etc. And still it is making sound (which i can modulate like any other tone, but can´t turn off).
Any suggestions? I have been out of the synth world for a couple of years, so please excuse me if there is an obvious solution to this. The strange thing is that something similar happened to another synth of mine - a Roland SH-1 (it starts playing a low frequency tone when ever I plug it in to anything midi), though the onboard osc´s still sound like normal – on top of the low frequency tone.

I read something about certain midi/synth-problems having a tendency to occur when the electrical input is not grounded. Could this be it?

Thank you in advance!

My home was wired 20 years ago with musical instrument-specific specs. Heavy-load circuits, multiple grounds. I have never had this problem, but have seen many posts where moving to different circuits, or adding a power conditioner have fixed the problem. I have also read posts here that indicate that the order in which equipment is powered up, and the order of MIDI connections can induce strange behaviors.

My computer is used only to save and load OS changes and sound sets. Sorry I cannot give you any help with music software.

best luck-
