new user, how to get this tone?

ok, I just got my mini. Im pretty noob.
So far I can only get the V8 boat motor moog tone.

But this is the tone I want, I think its a lead patch?

Im sorry Im pretty horrible at everything but after a long time I can master anything but usually longer then most people.
Then again I do things 99% of the world never trys.

But sadly im a noob’ish mini moog owner.

Hay I love the boat moog sounds but

How can I get this thing out of second gear!

Hi,

Maybe try starting with the Emerson Lake and Palmer Trilogy patch in the PDF below? (I’m hoping this patch is for the main lead sound  ) If that one is close try adjusting it until it works (maybe change a square wave to a triangle etc?) Make sure to process the sound through a delay and/or reverb effect.

My first thought was maybe two triangle waves but with the filter ‘trick’ of feeding the output back into the aux input. Maybe other’s here with more seat time at a minimoog can help and/or add to/correct my suggestions. :sunglasses:

Welcome Jaythejunkie !

BTW, by pure coincidence, there is only one other Minimoog D that was made between yours and mine back in 1975 ! Mine is cereal…uh, serial 6909.

It sounds like he’s clipping the hell out of whatever he’s plugged into on the right.

Not nearly as pretty as when internally overdriving the Aux input.

That makes us brothers! Or cousins?

I don’t know about us, but that certainly makes our Minis long lost brothers separated at birth…

Welcome to the forum JayTheJunkie!
That serial family reunion moves me too, I must say

To get back to your initial question of how to get that lead tone, well, you need a PA speaker system (that distorts ever so slightly), then you need a Tape Echo machine, then you also need a church for the natural reverb, and then simply use a square or pulse waveform.
