Multi-Pedal Quick Start Guide

:sunglasses:

Very nice vids. The MIDI-to-CV really impressed me.

Why do you do this to me Moog! I have dropped some big $s on Moog products. I managed to hold off on the MP-201 even though I wanted one but now with envelopes! This is an amazing pedal now, amazing. Combined with foogers or better yet, foogers and a Voyager or Little Phatty. Woot! The intergration of MIDI and CVs is amazing and this thing doubles as a MIDI to CV controller!

you guys are driving me nuts here lol! its not enough that im jonesing for the midi murf and cp251 (along with everything else too of corse, those are just priority) you have to throw this at me…and before christmas! ā€œsorry everyone christmas is canceled this year, moog dropped the price on the mulipedal AND finished the 2.0 upgrade. so im gonna have to jump on that…maybe next year thoughā€¦ā€ that will go over greeeeaaaat

My only problem (aside from not having the cash because I just bought a freqbox) is that the thing is so damn nice looking and I see the guys demoing it whilst tweaking sttings via knob, looking at display, etc.

My point is that it belongs alongside your keyboard rig, not on the floor. Any thoughts of making a version that can be mounted either in a standard rack or in Fooger form factor with a CV in that could be driven by a single expression pedal (or something else!?).

It’s a beautiful piece of engineering and deserves to be up off the ground. If there were a ā€˜remote’ that showed display where you could actually read it, had up/down buttons and the knob then job well done but I’m sure that would add quite a bit of cost.

BUT, with all this complaining I have to say bravo and congrats on a job well done. Going to be alot of happy children this holiday season (and some dads too!).

It wouldn’t be much of a multi-pedal if it was ā€˜up off the floor!’

I agree that something like you mentioned would be very cool, but with so many knobs/sliders/keys/(or strings) already available to your hands, and there being other desktop options available, the MP201 carves out a big niche being on the floor (ground-breaking even :p). The MP201 is very versatile on the ground or desktop, but all that power in pedal format is really what sets it apart from anything else on the market, and for the stompbox crowd like myself, it is completely unrivaled.

Every function of the MP201 can be controlled by foot, so the single Knob is really only useful as an alternative to the foot treadle/switches when adjusting by hand. I use the Menu when building patches, but rarely the Knob as I often do it all standing up with my feet, and the menu is clear and bright enough to see comfortably from a distance, and even editing hands-free becomes very intuitive.

That all said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Moog did put some kind of desktop/rackmounted version out at some point in the future; my guess is that it would be an upgraded MIDI’fied CP-251. Personally, I’m holding my breath waiting for an MP-2001 Space Oscillator with lots and lots of CV outs and switches and treadles!! :smiling_imp:  (<–thats not embarrassed, its from holding my breath… haha)

Some great comments here. I have often wanted to see versions of foogers and controllers that are not on the floor but in the end, they really don’t have to be.

I could be wrong but one ommision that I noticed that I would like to have is a gate in. This way a Voyager or keyboard with a gate out (like a Prophet 08 or many of the vintage analogues), or for that matter an old school Voyager, would trigger a gate which would make foogers + the MP 201 a true modular system. For me its not that big a deal because I have a Voyager with a MIDI out but it just seems funny to have to use MIDI from an analogue to control CV envelopes. Certainly not a deal breaker for me besides I ordered one. Could not resist the price. Not to mention all the things that I am going to be able to do with this.

As for the MP 201 being on the floor, I have to say I actually prefer it there. My rig right now consists of a full 88 key Korg M3 and a Voyager. Many times I am playing the Voyager with my right hand as a lead and the M3 with the left for pads, strings, choirs, ect. I use my foot often to control a damper pedal so I can get lush chords on the M3 or KARMA sequences. I have also used an expression pedal but my point is I don’t have hands free and have easily adapted to using my feet to control things. I think the logic of the MP 201 is that with the four switches it makes it easy to control multiple pedals. If I had four expression pedals it woulld cost as much as the MP 201 with none of the other things packed into the MP 201. If it were just one switch you would have to cycle and have the pedal in view but with the switches, its possible to control 4 pedals with my feet in an easy intuitive way.

This makes the MP 201 a real performance tool which is what I want it for so I don’t mind that much that its on the floor because put very simply, I have no hands to use it with when I am playing.

Wow. This has risen a few spots on my list of must-have equipment. Which is impressive considering I wasn’t even sure if I wanted one before!

Question about the MIDI-to-CV conversion:

Does this have to be done via USB, or can you use a device with a regular (non-USB) MIDI Out? I’ve been looking for a way to sequence my Voyager OS for a while, and I’d love to be able to do this through my Elektron Machinedrum. Running MIDI Out of the Machinedrum into the Multi-Pedal’s MIDI In, and then CV Pitch and Gate out to the Voyager will work, right?

MIDI-CV works fine via MIDI. It’s super cool.

Yep, works exactly the same via USB or regular MIDI. I bet it would be super-cool to sequence from the Machinedrum…

Cool. Thanks! I was pretty sure it would work, but wanted to make sure. Even using my computer to sequence would be fine, but it’ll be a lot less hassle not having to worry about syncing my laptop, Machinedrum AND Voyager all at once.

I am going to do much like i did when getting my LP, I didn’t know much about it but started saving and threw the money to the store…

What happened to buying clothes, endless nights out… damn you MOOG MUSIC_

You don’t need to buy clothes…Play your Moog naked
