My liver will be destroyed by the time the polysynth comes out, anyway. Between the Jim Beam and Lucid absinthe, I won’t have much of a liver left by the time the Megamoog is released.
I had an idea while doing some programming on the Andromeda yesterday.
With such complicated modulation routings, I think there could be a lot more done with the control surface to visualise a patch. I’m thinking either a fully graphic panel or else preset “roads”/tracks to visualise where a modulation source is coming from and headed to. Kind of like the reacTable
I would love a polymoog type synth… as messed up and flawed as mine was, there was something I really liked about it too.
I have to agree with the poster who said that his post would probably be unpopular… about it not being financially sensible for Moog to release a poly synth.
I just got the Pot Upgrade for my Prophet '08 SE, along with a few other additions, and I have to say that it is an amazing sounding, and playing machine… It doesn’t have the same sound or vibe as my Voyager ( or LP Tribute), but it’s great for what it does. I don’t know if Moog could do a poly synth that would meet their standards of both build and sound quality for a reasonable price. Again, my Prophet is great, but it’s not as sturdy as my Moogs either…
I’d hate to see Moog try to put something out that they can’t really sell, like an uber expensive machine. WE might know why it’s worth it, but lots of people will be comparing it with not only Prophets but sub $600 VAs like Microkorg XL’s and won’t initially be able to see or hear why there’s no comparison. Can you imagine a bloke at Guitar Center trying to explain to a DJ/wannabe producer why the Moog is ten times the instrument that an R3 is?
BTW that Reactable is really cool. Seeing it also frustrates me as to why Yamaha decided to put a 1" x 2" screen on their new S70XS. My PHONE has a waaay better screen than that, and then you can’t even edit the keyboard at the element level without a computer. It could have been a great stage piano… aaaaaarrrrgh!!!
